  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Subwoofer upgrade options

I tried the 11in JBL that is made for the spare tire well but unfortunately it was too large and had to return it.
Which one did you try? Was it the height or width that was too big?

Update, I just measured and the stock hole cutout in the tire trim is 18” but an 18” sub would be too deep unless by chance there is a super shallow 7” 18 lol.
Maybe a square 13” sub or a shallow 15 will fit but most likely it’ll be a 12” but time will tell.
Even Four 8” subs would fit nicely.

The mold will mega easy to make and to put the car back to stock just as easy!

Glad the battery is only 8” away, bonus!

Next is to find the line out converter and wires to tap into.

I did see there was a premium OEM swap company that makes replacements for the under seat subs we have but I can’t see them being much better for the cost.

Mind sharing the link? It wouldn’t be difficult to improve on a stock OEM car driver. Speaker drivers can have a huge efficiency range which could increase levels and cleaner sound. I’ll never forget the first time I compared a Kicker sub (back in the 90’s when they simply had Kicker in white font painted on the dust cap) against a JBL sub. I think the JBL was a Syphony line or something. All I recall is a square logo in gold or tan with JBL lettering. I could A/B test them at a local car audio place. The bass level difference was quite noticeable and the bass went from muddy (Kicker) to tight and controlled with the JBL.

So anyway, it would be cool if there is an after market option that’s plug and play that simply upgrades the driver and possibly the enclosure.

Some say this brand and another have a model that also fits under our seats

Bavsound is a reputable brand. I replaced the underseat, low-profile subs in the driver and passenger seats of my 2011 BMW M3. They are better than the premium audio stock speakers. True plug-and-play. Not sure this application will work for Genesis.
