  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

It seems that all the current Genesis apps available for Android phones require Android 12 as the operating system. Genesis has configured the Google App store to only allow installing the current apps on phones with Android 12 or newer. I inquired about the availability of an older version of the app in .apk format so I could manually install it, and Genesis support wouldn't provide it.

Anyone else experience this? On the page that support sent me to it stated that phones with Android 11 or older that had Genesis apps on them could continue using those apps. It would seem they must plan on providing support for the older app - so why not make it available to people with not-very-old (Moto-G Power) phones?

I know, my 8088 computer still runs fine but it is getting hard to find programs on the 5 1/4" floppies.

Your phone is not capable of running Android 12? It has been out for nearly 3 years now. Android 13 is out now if you can upgrade.

Nearly 3 years is more like it wouldn't run on Windows-10, a still supported OS that has been replaced by Windows-11. And there isn't an option to bump the OS on the phone that I know of (but I'll google it..)

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I just looked - there are multiple phones on Amazon being sold that use Android-11, including ones newer than mine. Unless there is a real security risk involved I think Genesis has simply screwed up here (not a surprise after user profiles..)

I doubt that it is a security issue. They probably just don't want to spend the time supporting older versions. It doesn't make it right, but there are a lot of other companies that feel the same.
