  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello everyone.

I just purchased a 2024 G70 and as I drove it off the lot within 1.5 miles it generated P045507. I returned to the dealership and they exchanged it for another G70 they drove in from a different dealership. When I drove it home I made it 40 miles before it generated the same code. I've done a ton of reading and understand what the 0455 code is. I'm extremely disappointed that two brand new 2024 G70's couldn't get me home without the service engine light coming on. The dealership has been amazing through this disappointing experience.

Has anyone had any experience similar - especially with the 2024 model? Really love the car but am seriously considering returning the car and waiting several months before trying again to give Genesis a chance to address this issue. I know it can be fixed, but not willing to buy a brand new car and have it continually going in for diagnostics/repairs. Not a good impression for a long time Hyundai owner but first time Genesis owner. (Never had a single issue with many different Hyundai cars)

Thanks

Are you sure the gas cap is tightened? They usually fill the tanks some before they sell them.

Yes, the dealership checked it and I also checked the gas cap.

The first car the message came on in 1.5 miles after they filled it up. The second car it took about 40 miles for the code to show up.

I've had that a few times with a GM car if it was overfilled. After a few drive cycles it would go off. Yes, it went on quickly. I wonder if the same lot boy could have overfilled both cars.

The issue is they probably don't know which of the 5 main components of the EVAP system is throwing the code. Could be something really stupid, like the gas cap, to something more serious, like the fuel tank. My brand new '22 3.3T SP started making a horrible engine noise by the time I pulled into the garage. It could have been a bad PCV valve, but it sounded more serious than that. I returned the freaking car, and waited 2 months for a '23 2.0T SP. It has been trouble-free so far, but crossing fingers. I bought a new '22 Santa Fe with the new 2.5T at the same time, and it had DCT (transmission) issues a few months later, so had to sell the damn thing at a big loss. Hyundai refused to buy it back for a new one, so sold it, and not going back to Hyundai/Genesis after 9 new vehicles. Will keep the G70 in the mean time, but no more after it's gone. It was the 3rd car with serious issues, and what pissed us off is how they deal with problems (not good). There seems to be an epidemic of bad quality everywhere, so I'll keep the cars I have until that period hopefully passes.

Looks like it was the gas cap. I think the porter at the dealership didn't replace the gas cap properly. The dealership smoke tested the system with no leaks detected. I haven't had the code since.

Im one month in, no issues so far other than "Check side view mirror warning light" however since giving it a wash, I have not seen it again. Figured it was just salt muck covering sensors/camera.

Glad to hear it! Love mine.

I didn't even know about that warning.

Thanks!

I seem to get that warning light each time I get gas. I have the had the car for nine months and I get it once a month.
The lack of quality in this car is really starting to show. Frustrated. Have an appointment with dealer to get it looked at. Way too many trips to service on this car.

Same here. I'm leasing a 2025 and it has happened twice now. I put the gas cap on the same everytime, so the randomness of this problem has to be something more going on.
