  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Excited to explore the automation potential of my new GV80! Especially since they announced free lifetime connected services for 2023+ models. I'm testing the Genesis app to see how effectively I can leverage features like remote start, lock/unlock, and surround view monitoring for convenience and efficiency. I'm in no way affiliated with Genesis or Tasker. Just trying to share some cool automations for tech enthused Genesis owners that are on Android.

If your on android device and are into automations or already using Tasker. I'm designing and will be sharing tasker automations to achieve the following actions:
  • Clickable launcher desktop shortcut/widget to execute following tasks:
    • Climate start with Winter Profile/Settings for cold temps or Summer Profile for hot days. (Task can select whichever profile you configure it. Requires BIOmetrics to be off and PIN to be configured in separate task that will execute when the app requires the PIN)
    • Climate Stop (No pin required)
    • Lock Vehicle (No pin required)
    • Unlock Vehicle (Pin Task required)
    • Take 3D Surround view when exiting vehicle. (This monitors phone's bluetooth disconnecting from vehicle's bluetooth to trigger automatically, or can be a widget
You can also link tasker tasks into Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa to trigger via voice command and routines. The only way this would work is if the phone screen is on, as it uses AutoInput plugin to select the app's labels for the commands/menus. Alternatively you can have a old android phone with tasker installed that's always connected to a always on power-source and wifi access point.

Some of the use-case of utilizing automated tasks:
  • Scheduled remote car cool-downs/warm-ups.
  • Remote start/cool downs on the fly with 1 click.
  • Lock/Unlock on the fly with 1 click.
  • Scheduled locks when coming home, incase you forgot to lock it.
  • Scheduled locks at night before going to bed.
  • Park your vehicle and automatically take 3D-View photos & location when vehicle is parked and powers-off. Can further setup to download your photos and upload it to your google drive specified folder (more experienced user).
  • Disconnect from GYM/WORK Wifi or Work/Office Bluetooth headphones/speaker and remote start your vehicle to desired profile depending on season/weather.

I've gotten the Climate Start with Default profile task executed under 8 seconds with PIN input. Longest part is waiting for the Genesis app to bring up the dashboard upon launch. This video was not sped up. I'm sure I can get this down to 5 seconds with adjusting delay in the pin portion. See below:

If there's any interest in this, please let me know and I'll figure out how to properly share my tasks for easy importing onto your own phone. You will need to modify the PIN task to your own PIN.

Thanks Garz!

Id also recommend anyone with Android to setup a MODE (modes and routines) for driving, that will automate power saving mode | Processing speed optimized to keep your phone cooler on those hot summer days. I use an android auto wireless adapter (AAWireless) so I also set it up to adjust my phone speaker (some apps echo for some reason) and ensure Bluetooth audio is optimized. I have it set to automate on and off when Android Auto is connected, but you can also have Bluetooth connection to your car as well.

Question about your aa wireless. I was one of the first people to get one back when they crowdfunded them. (Backer #86)
It worked great on my Audi, but I never got it to work right on my GV80. I tried every combo possible in the settings, but it would just not stay connected.
I replaced it with a Motorola and it worked great right out of the box.

As for the question, How does yours perform? Any Issues? If it works without issues, I wonder if one of their firmware updates fixed it with the Genesis or they have since come out with a newer version of the device. Do you remember what settings you used? I still have it and I want to give it another shot if it works well?
Thanks.

I'm using aawireless my self. Works flawlessly in GV80. I'm in android 14. I can take a screenshot of my settings in aawireless if it helps.

I have not had any issues so far. It connects really fast; faster than others ive witnessed with built in wireless AA. I only used the app to update the firmware (3.2.1) I have AA whitelisted from power saving settings, and with AA developer mode, I ensure Wireless AA is enabled, and force Video Resolution to allow up to 1920x1080 or 1080x1920. I have the Samsung S22 Ultra, some older phones may want to adjust the codec to prefer PCM.

Thanks guys, I assume one of the app or firmware updates finally made it compatible with the Genesis. It was two years since I have tried it. Many others here had the same issue I had back then with the AAWireless cutting off and then reconnecting. I will update it and give it a try sometime. But the Motorola works just fine and loads in the same time as the AAWireless.
