Just reprogram the ECUI want to be able to disable the auto shutdown feature on my GV70 permanently
It is both an eco factor and safety factor. People have left cars running in the garage and died from it. That feature could save a life. Unusual to need a car idling that long.In addition to what EdP said... just learn to live with it. It's a lot smaller deal than people make it.
I believe the OP was talking about the ISG, which, as far as I know, does not kick in while in PARK.It is both an eco factor and safety factor. People have left cars running in the garage and died from it. That feature could save a life. Unusual to need a car idling that long.
Ah, some will shut down after idling 30 minutes. Perhaps he needs a bread clip.I believe the OP was talking about the ISG, which, as far as I know, does not kick in while in PARK.
You can buy a small cable that reverses the setting of the auto-stop button: instead of defaulting to auto-stop, it defaults to no auto-stop. Pressing the button still reverses the setting. The kit sells on AliExpress for maybe $20. But caution: I bought one and for the life of me I can't install it. My hands are too big to get into the area where the kit installs. There's a video on YouTube that shows how to install it, but there is no way I can do what the guy in the video does. I suggest you watch the video and then practice doing a ghost install. If you have no problems, go ahead and order the device.I want to be able to disable the auto shutdown feature on my GV70 permanently
Technically, what it does is press the auto-stop button briefly just after startup each time, disabling the system until or unless you press the button again. You can buy a small cable that reverses the setting of the auto-stop button...
A little more information would help. Does it matter if it is white, rye, or wheat? Is there risk that the bread goes stale faster without the clip? Do you have to change it depending on the printed expiration date? Here is a low tech solution that works perfectly and doesn’t appear to cause any damage. It’s a plastic bread bag clip View attachment 57980
Someone beat you to itA $60,000 vehicle with a bread bag clip jammed in.
Maybe I'll go high tech and 3D print one that says "ISG Sucks!"

You are certainly not wrong, but I also understand that the feeling of it just being something that they shouldn't have to do. If I could get a similar device that would automatically apply the parking brake everything I shut the engine off, I would likely do so, even though pulling that switch is habit now.I don't get it. Seems easier and only takes literally a second just to push the button after start-up.![]()
I agree it just seems the "fix" is more cumbersome than just pushing the button. Yes, my wife drives a Mazda3 Hatchback because she loves lil hatchbacks and it applies the parking brake automatically after shutting the engine off. It's a nice feature. You are certainly not wrong, but I also understand that the feeling of it just being something that they shouldn't have to do. If I use Auto Hold my brake goes on at shutdown. Don't recall if other models did that though. You are certainly not wrong, but I also understand that the feeling of it just being something that they shouldn't have to do.
