  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am driving a 2023 Genesis G70 Sport as a loaner while my 2021 G70 awaits its new AC evaporator. I have been driving the car for about two and a half weeks now. It has 4200 miles on it. Twice now, I have gotten the "smart key not detected" warning when I have tried to start the car, even though the smart key was detected outside to enable me to unlock the door. I have to take the key out of my handbag and hold it while I start the car. Any idea what is happening? I do keep my iPhone in my handbag along with my smart key, but I never had this issue with my 2021 G70. TYIA. (Other than this issue, the car is a joy to drive, with tremendous power and superb handling.)

Phone near the fob is one possibility. Depending on how you hold the bag vs how you put the bag in the car can make a difference in blocking the signal.

Weak battery is another possibility. I'd try moving the fob in the bag first.

Do you mean the fob battery or the car battery?
