Does tinting make it hard to see at night?

I like the idea of tinting my windows but I have never had windows tinted before. I think the tinting looks great. Well, having said that, I wear glasses and can't see at night while driving as well as I used too. Will the tinting on the windows make it even harder to see? It seems like it would be similar to driving with sunglasses on at night.

Can anyone provide a recommendation on type and percentage that will still look cool but not cause restrictions on seeing through them?

I appreciate your information before I get too excited about tinting my windows. Thanks

28 on front 2 windows, 35 on rear 2 windows. not hard to see at all

I have no problems with my tints driving at night. If anything, it helps reduce the glare of the headlights behind me.

I didn't know the windshield does not get tinted. I just went online and checked my state law and the windshield cannot be tinted. Thanks for clearing that up.

I would recommend you get a 35% or lighter film if you are concerned about your eyesight. You'll take a week or two and adapt to it just fine.

I just had my windows tinted two weeks ago. I went with the legal limit - 35%. I had everything except the windshield done. The windows are not particularly dark, and do not seem to have reduced my visability very much.

According to the installer, the inside surface of my tinted windows must now be cleaned with an ammonia-free solution. Windex makes a vinegar-based glass cleaner that is safe to use.

30% + rear sunshade + dimming mirror = no problem for me at night. That's probably because of the lights on other cars. Without light, it might be more problematic, but that's probably true without tint.

A few years ago, I bought a used Mercury Marauder that had very dark tint. I had trouble seeing out the side and rear glass with that tint, so.....
I went to my local guy and had him remove the very dark tint and he replaced it with the legal 35% (or 37%). I then had no problem seeing with the legal tint.

My next two cars, (a Lincoln and present Genesis) have this legal tint. No Problems.

OK get up in the middle of the night, put your sunglasses on and take a trip to the fridge to fetch your favorite midnight snack. after smacking your toes into the unseen cabinet swearing and waking the dog, wife, dead, and children. Return to bedI dont mean to offend or flame you, but i could not resist. (really its meant for laugh)

but seriously before I had lasik correction I wore contacts and the tint bothered me when it was real dark

i have 20% tint all around and yes, at night it takes a little more attention. especially turning sharp corners. parallel parking, not so much bc of the back cam. but you really do get used to it in short time!

The only thing I noticed with my 35% tint was that the view out the back window at night is slightly distorted because of the defrosting wires. This is not a problem and doesn't interfere with visibility, but it is noticeably different from the view without tint.

Really, I also experienced the same it is perfect. The color you choose is the main factor in tinting a car window. Do you agree with it?

My car is 15%, 50% on the windshield.
My truck is 15%, 30% on the windshield.

The only thing I don't like about the car is the auto-dimming outer mirrors with dark tint. Still wouldn't trade it, and would go darker if tint wasn't a misdemeanor in GA

HOW DARK CAN WINDOW TINT BE IN GEORGIA?

Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In Gerogia, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window.

• Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed on the top 6 inches of the windshield.
• Front Side Windows Must allow more than 32% of light in.
• Back Side Windows Must allow more than 32% of light in.
• Rear Window Must allow more than 32% of light in.

Reality is, as long as they can see through it, you're fine. So, if I'm being followed, I open the sunroof shade or sunroof...Problem solved!
My last car was 2% all the way around, 30% on the windshield. That didn't last long down here...

Yes it will MAKE it more difficult to see out (common sense will tell you that). Havnig said that, at least in AZ, NO tinting can be applied to the FRONT windshield (well, you can put a glare strip across the top). The front windshield is already factory tinted and adding any more is foolhardy and dangerous. Side windows, there is usually a legal limit to the opaqueness and the back is called "Limo"...but even then, it's VERY difficult to see anything out the REAR windows and rear door windows when dark tinted.

We opted for ceramic tint (which is lighter but still looks cool on our pearl white sedan), which provides outstanding solar protection while still maintaing night time needs for safety. IMHO, to darken a front windshield that already has factory tint that reduces your ability to see at night is absolutely dangerous and pretty ignorant. You only have a split second to react in most instances....and at night, what if you clip or kill a pedestrian or bicyclist because you couldn't see them in time? I don't think you'd have time to scratch off the tinting from the time of impact (and realizing what you just did) to the time the cops get there.....and insurance definitely hang you for being at fault....not worth it to me under any circumstances.
