  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Who here mainly browses with a desktop or notebook computer?

Looking to find out how many of us use a desktop or notebook over a smartphone. I use a desktop almost exclusively as I'm at my desk all day. I imagine some other people are in a similar situation - or perhaps even prefer a larger screen. If that's you, please let me know.

Thank you!

Desktop, sometimes a chromebook. Way too much on here (or any forum-based system) to try to do it from a smartphone - even with an app.

14" laptop. Sits on my belly when I'm in the recliner.

iPhone 13 mini. Works great.

desktop for me

I agree. I used to have a Chromebook and liked it quite a bit, but a relative sat on it and I never replaced it...
I'm 90% desktop myself...
Desktop only. Usually FireFox.
Mostly me as well...

Nice portability and big enough screen to get stuff done.
Great portability and still a good screen size. I haven't had a tablet in years. Left mind on a plane and never found it.
iPhone 13 mini. Works great.
I'm glad to hear you can do that! My eyes aren't quite good enough anymore to be on small screen all day.
desktop for me
Thank you. That's mostly me too...
Laptop and 27" Retina display
Thank you. Good fullsize options...

Phone, Samsung Galaxy S22+.

mac 13", Chrome browser. I use phone when away from home which is uncommon. Typing is tedious on phone after full keyboard experience. Also, screen.

Usually my phone (Pixel 8), but I much prefer using my desktop for the larger screen and keyboard. Somehow I just got used to using it on my phone.

My trusty old "Lap-Mac Pro" almost exclusively. iPhone (mini) is emergency use only so far as browsing is concerned. :)

Desktop - W7 w/24" monitor 95% of the time.
Laptop - W11 (mostly used as a 'hurricane back-up device' and for the occasional bit of software that will not run on W7) 4.95% of the time.
Smartphone - Android only when I absolutely have to when away from home so, .05% of the time.

I hate the cell phone & refuse to be tethered to it. Only really have it because customers 'insist' on texting and I was forced to comply.
If I'm at home & have to text I have it linked to the desktop so I don't have to even pick it up to respond to a customer.
Once I close up the business, I'll likely go back to my old flip phone - fits easily in my pocket, call quality is great, pics are good enough for emergencies.

Flip phone? 🤣

Flip phone? 🤣
Don't laugh - I am in the same boat. Once I am "done" with work - at least in the IT space - I will be ditching the smart phone. One of the worst things to have ever happened to society, outside of social media as a whole.

Dad refuses to get a smart phone - and I don't blame him. He is happy with his flip. He sees how much I have to rely on it for work and how much the wife gets sucked into it and burns up time, as well as how much the kids in the neighborhood don't socialize with each other in real life - but will instead all get togher to sit in a room staring at their phones.

It's actually extremely sad what it has done to us all.

Everyone needs to watch this. Preferably not on a phone.

Self control. Very easy, especially for kids, to get sucked into the digital world.
OTOH, it allows me to see and talk to my great grandson that is 1000 miles away.
When I travel, a quick text lets concerned people know where I am and I'm OK. Even a one word text, "home" can be beneficial.

And other than the video call - you could do that with a flipper. :) For video calls - there's always the desktop or laptop.
