  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2021 G70 Prestige/Sport, all the bells and whistles. I used to not really care for the Android Auto app, but after having it on a lot of car rentals, I have grown to like it, especially the reply/talk to text feature. I have been unable to find if my G70 can have/get/run this app...? As I understand it, the G70 has to have the app in order for it to "show/run" the info on its screen (my phone of course has it and it works on rental cars if the rental car itself has the app installed to receive from a phone). Does anyone know?

I can only speak to Apple CarPlay, because that's the universe I live in, but your G70 should not need a special app; support for Android Auto and CarPlay is built in. You may have to enable AA on your phone, and you should check the G70's Setup screen to ensure that AA is enabled. (I believe it's Setup -> Device Connections -> Phone Projection Settings -> Android Auto.)

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
If your G70 supports AA at all, it should be build in, no app to install. AA might need an app on your phone - I use CarPlay, which does not need an app because CP is built into iOS. I suspect AA is likewise built into Android. You will need to ensure that AA is enabled on your car - go to Settings -> Device Connections -> Phone Projection Settings -> Android Auto.

So, perhaps the easier way to ask my same question... does anyone know of the 2021 G70 has Android Auto installed? If not, is that the end of that...?

It does. I have a 2019 3.3 Prestige and it's built into the system. It works great and I use it every day wirelessly with a dongle.

I see... so does not connect wireless on its own, needs either a cable or dongle to push wireless. Thanks!

What specific product/dongle do you use?

The G70 supports wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as is

We've had good results with the CarlinKit 5.0 and the Ottocast U2-AIR. Both are about the same... it can take up to a minute for the phone to fully connect (I'm using an iPhone 14 Pro) but once it does it's solid.

I've been running 2 Motorola MA1's. 1st one for almost 2yrs. No problems.

Not having to plug/unplug my phone for AA is priceless. So is the ability to charge, or not charge, separately from the wired AA connection.

Agreed... that's why I was looking for Android Auto (with wireless option). thanks all!

I use this one. Never had ONE issue with it and it connects within 30 seconds of starting the vehicle. Good luck!

Might want to hang on until the next map/nav update. Some are saying that Genesis will turn on wireless AA. But, you know how rumors can be. I didn't read closely, but you can just use your charging cable to use AA. Works great, but it has to be a good cable. I use the one that came with my old phone. Newer phones don't come with them it seems.
