  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Motors executives have been watching this community for years. They've also made improvements to their vehicles based upon what they've read here. They are listening to you.

This discussion will serve as a quick and easy way for Genesis Motors executives to gauge interest and help make decisions moving forward.

As a GV80 driver, you should state exactly what you'd like to see enhanced, added, and/or omitted from your Genesis GV80.

Any posts that don't stick to the subject matter will be moved elsewhere.

Not in order but things as an owner I would like.
Remove the lag when needing to accelerate quickly
For the fan not to be as loud when sitting
Allowing the rear doors to unlock when grabbing that handle
Doors to lock auto upon you walking away.

I really do like my GV80.

As for acceleration, I have the 2.5T and have plenty of power if I use SPORT mode when I really need to scoot out.
Fan does not bother me.
Would like to be able to unlock the doors by grabbing the rear door handles.
Would like auto lock and unlock with the key fob.
Would like each key fob to be unique so when unlocking, the driver preference is set.
Would like wireless Android Auto (even though I do not use Android Auto).
Would like a separate fan for rear seating.
Would like sound deading glass in the rear doors.

That is it for now. Probably will think of other things later.

Separate fan for the rear seats (I disabled my rear seat controls)
Being able to unlock the doors when touching any handle (Drives me nuts as my other car had it and I keep grabbing the back door to unlock it)
Fix the horrible service issues that some people are having. (I am lucky in that area) I don't care about what car brand is on the building as long as the service is good.
Stop advertising the Valet service as it does not exist at all dealers.
Get more batteries for this car. That is really a stupid issue to be having this late in the game having your car laid up because there is no batteries for it.

So far, the responses which suggest what I would consider minor tweaks indicate a high level of appreciation for the GV80's qualities. My more substantive suggestion is for a hybrid powertrain designed to improve fuel economy rather than performance which is already great for a luxury vehicle in my opinion.

give me radio knobs back, key fob distance of at least a 100 feet or more, key fob that identifies driver and does mirror and seat settings, more reliability on Genesis connected services at a less expensive price, wireless charging that reliably works, give the operator the ability to have certain control functions to stay on: allow heated steering and seats to stay in the on position so you don't have to turn them on each time you start the car, same with auto dimming headlights, should not have to accept yourself as the driver each time you start the car--at least give us the option, service reminders from Genesis and dealership should always be the same-same milage and date, spare tire and jack in GV80 Prestige, more storage spots and more cup holders, separate rear seat fan for AC, better location for oil filter, brighter headlights, better fuel economy, rain sensor to close skylight should it start raining. May think of more--still love the car but computers still have more glitches in them than other cars I have owned, but the GV80 has more things than my other cars have had.

How about adding a more intuitive screen interface. Would like to select either photos from my phone to use as a screen saver and the ability to select from at least up to 10 images for the display. Whether it be holiday, seasonal, weather or scenic based. Brighter ambient lighting. Make connected services free for anyone who’d believed in the brand and purchased their vehicles from 2019 to present. There’s quite a few more, but I’m sure others have that covered.

Some minor stuff, but as long as you are asking:

•Seat heater display indicators TOO dim
•Parking sensors go off in stopped traffic (especially around Ford vehicles)
•More then one true trip odometer
•Garage door openers don’t work if car is powered down (yes, I know some here like that. I'd like a preferences option.)
•Show transmission gear in heads-up display
•Prefs option to show song info in heads-up display
•Higher quality OEM wiper blades, which wear out prematurely
•Phone charger practically useless
•Wireless Car Play
•Second button to control rear window power sunshades
•Visual AWD monitor
•Is gas cap necessary
•Headlights should turn with steering wheel
•No spare tire (for an $85K vehicle?? not even a donut??)
•Separate HVAC System for rear seat
•Battery failure an issue
•Seat massage for driver AND passenger seats

And, of course, that freakin' button that makes the engine NOT shut off at idle.

Or for the garage door opener, have a 15 second delay before it shuts down, which gives you enough time to control the door after you shut off the car. That would make everyone happy.

The stop start.... That's here for life on all cars. But I solved that issue. (My version of the bread tie solution)

I have not tried it, but does the mirror stayed power up like the radio? I have my radio stay on until I open my door.

Side cornering lights when directional turned on. Every luxury car I have ever owned has this!

Rear Door unlock upon touch.

Not sure what you mean by side cornering lights. The GV80 has side markers in each front fender that flash with the turn signals. That is why it does not have ones on the side mirrors.

Corner lights aid the driver when turning corners by illuminating the road to the vehicle’s side when the turn signal is turned on at slower speeds.

Corner lights and side marker lights have different functions. The latter helps other drivers see your vehicle—your position, where you’re turning, and the like—while corner lights project forward and to the side on the road to provide additional lighting in turns.

Now I understand. Thanks.

I'm not sure what 'feature' this would be, but they need to reduce the battery drain on the vehicle when it's just sitting unlocked. Mine was dead as a doornail after sitting for 6 days in my garage. I was able to charge it, and it's been fine since, but less than a week seems ridiculously short to me.

As an owner of a 2021 GV80, and previous owner of BMW, Volvo, Acura, Lexus and Cadillac, Genesis has made a great vehicle. I made a list of needed improvements to existing features, likes, and features needed to stay competitive. One area that needs attention is the Dealer experience. The aforementioned brands have already figured this out. Having dealt with several Hyundai deaerships which give every excuse not to provide concierge service, nor basic customer service is the greatest threat to my purchasing another Genesis:

Needed improvements:
  1. Headlights. Currently rated as acceptable by Insurance Institute of Highway safety. Rating needs to be bumped up to good.
  2. Engine auto start very harsh and rattling engine start. Forced to disengage due to such poor performance.
  3. 14.5 inch display creeks and rattles - very annoying and happens all the time.
  4. Steering wheel appearance - get rid of 2 spoke design
  5. Touch screen needs to be closer by 3-4 inches
  6. Favorites Star button on steering needs to have Apple CarPlay as an option.
  7. Fuel economy
  8. Update usb-a to usb-c outlets
  9. Passenger side memory and massage seat
  10. Higher output hp engine. V6 turbo not responsive enough compared to Germans
  11. Navigation UI, doesn’t come close to google maps on my iPhone.

Things I like:
  1. Stereo system
  2. Overall design inside and out.
  3. Fit and finish and choice of materials
  4. Safety technology
  5. Automatic seat posture alignment
  6. Hard button for Apple CarPlay on dash
  7. Welcome chime
  8. Remote auto start. With climate control options
  9. Smart phone app
  10. Quiet cabin, and air from vents does not disturb the overall decibel level. For example the Cadillac XT5 which had a moderately quiet cabin and also had an extremely noisy ventilation system that detracted.
  11. Tilting side view mirrors when vehicle is in reverse

Options needed to stay Competitive:
  1. Passenger side memory seat
  2. Passenger massage seats
  3. Standard large digital display gauge cluster
  4. Electronic display video rear mirror
  5. EV or hybrid engine option
  6. Air suspension
  7. Wireless Apple CarPlay
  8. Comprehensive LED Ambient light system
  9. Rear door lock/unlock sensors. Currently only the front doors contain lock/unlock sensors of the 2021 Genesis GV80.
  10. Air fragrance system.
  11. Fully adaptive LED headlights
  12. Coupe version
  13. High output engine to complete with German competition.
  14. Rear passenger outboard ceiling vents or B pillar vents. Genesis GV80 has only rear center console vents. Luxury competitors have this feature.

I just picked up a 2021 GV80 2.5 Prestige to replace my 2009 Hyundai Genesis V8 Tech. Things I wish were different in the GV80:

1: I'm not tall but I try to sit fairly far from the steering wheel thanks to the airbag - I don't want my glasses busted into my eyes/face in an accident. That puts the infotainment screen almost out of reach... I wish it were a few inches closer.

2: The seat easy-access: have an option to have it not only move backwards but to also move all the way down. The GV80 ride height is much higher than my 2009 sedan was. My work-around is to set the #2 memory position to all the way down and fairly far aft; I have the normal easy-access function disabled on the driver seat. One more button to push every time I startup and shut down the vehicle.

3: The Homelink mirror: have it powered/functional whenever the fob is detected as inside the vehicle rather than disabling it as soon as the engine is shut off.

4: I wish there was a way to lower the volume of the front/center (dash mounted) speaker. I know audiophiles tend to feel proper spacial sound should make it seem like you are an audience member facing a stage... but I prefer it when I feel "immersed" in the sound or perfectly centered on the stage rather than sitting in the audience, something I could do on my 2009 (also with a Lexicon setup).

Definitely agree with the dealer experience. Could be the greatest car in the world, but without good customer service to back it up, the product is really devalued. I have been fortunate and had good dealer experience, but seldom have a follow-up email or phone call asking opinion. I used to be in body shop business. Before my customers would leave, I would tell them to give me a call if there were any issues. Most customers were happy, but shocked when I told them this. I would tell them that I can't make things right if I don't know there is something wrong.
