  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

wants me to renew connected services
I have never used connected care and sounds I would only use it if the car breaks down while driving.
Confused about the guidance package. What will I lose with the GPS/route/ POI features if i do not take it?

If you have not used it before it is unlikely that paying for continuation will be economical in the future. Many of the services are redundant to those available to anyone such as Android and Apple apps for navigation, AAA for car trouble recovery. Valet mode is useful if you believe others will drive your car and are unknown to you or unwise drivers. Aftermarket remote start is available and perhaps more useful than the internet based one on the car.
It is convenient to have all those functions in one place.
I found that after 3+ years of free access I used it much less than I anticipated. It was exciting to have a new plaything but the joy waned as the quotidian usefulness diminished.
Your personal use case will rule.

I’m not sure you really realize if you are using it now. You will still have maps and POI. You will not have routing (guidance), remote start (nice on very hot or cold days) and the ability to send addresses to the car to start guidance from your phones maps app (Google or Apple) among other features

so you'e saying I will lose the ability to put in a destination and receive the guidance map? From what I know, and my former Mercedes, and my wife's Lexus, that service is free.

I still had guidance, just not the "send to car" feature I used a couple of times a year.

Just saved me $199 a year

Personally I have found that inputting a destination by typing on the screen was quite tedious. Also I like being able to enter a destination while I’m driving by pressing the mirror button and saying the destination. Connected services is required for that.

Mine has voice entry without connected services, just a different button. However, it hardly ever understood me correctly. I mostly use CarPlay now, which is not perfect, but a good bit better.

Remote start is worth every penny in Chicago.

Check out the "mykey premium" remote start. Just over $300.00 and utilizes your prox key. It works very well and is much cheaper in the long run. Oh, and my 2019 G70 still has voice-activated nav, via the nav/radio, without CC. Or use the apple or android car play.

Will remote start from key fob still work without the subcription or does that impact only doing it by phone?

If your key fob has the remote start button on it, yes it will still work. Those of us that don't have the physical button on the key fob and have to rely on the app to remote start the car loose that service without a subscription. @ominousone, I just ordered one of those kits and am very excited to see how well it works.

I have this too and it's great.

I have a 2023 Genesis and I use the voice command in the car (button on the steering wheel) for the navigation function almost exclusively. I merely say the name of the restaurant/store etc. I want and almost every time it comes back with the destination. The few times it failed, I could still use the voice command, I just needed to state the address rather than the name.

But this type of feature has been improved by all car companies dramatically during the more recent years.

Considering that Genesis uses the data feed from Connected Services to harvest your driving data and selling it to third party data brokers (who then resell to your insurance company), they should be paying you and me to turn that on!

I bought my G70 used, it's never been updated to enable Connected Services under my ownership (modem icon has disabled slash on it). I've never turned it on, don't miss it, and will never own a car that phones home in such a fashion.

Hyundai/Genesis no longer does the driving score. I don't know if they totally separated from collecting/selling data.

^this. Not only am I not renewing now that the 3yr freebie has run out, I'm planning on finding out where the modem antenna connector is and unplugging it just to make sure there is absolutely no data connection. Hyundai/Kia/Genesis only quit selling data when they - along with other car mfrs - got publicly shamed into admitting it. I'm not taking any chances.

I've never used OEM navigation in any of my cars for many years now. Android Auto works far better and the same search history is retained in my phone as it goes from car to car.

As for remote start... well, I can see how that could be useful for a lot of folks. Summers here are brutally hot, but I have problem getting into a hot car and wait the couple of minutes before AC cools off the cabin. I have ceramic tint on all my cars and use windshield sun reflectors every time I park. The cabin still gets hot, but nowhere near as bad as without them. Besides, 1/2 my cars already have remote start from the key fob, without needing a data connection, but I still hardly ever use it.
