  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey all, I recently picked up my 2012, so far absolutely loving the car. Bought it wholesale (perks of working in the industry) but it has a few issues I'm slowly working through. The usual sunroof tracks, backup camera etc. Have those taken care of, next on the list is passenger side front and drivers side rear power locks aren't functioning and some speakers that are shot.

If I hit the switch the lock budges but won't quite operate, guessing I need to replace the actuators? Oddly enough, on both the same doors my larger speakers sound terrible. I'm not an audiophile, I like music to sound good but never been a huge stereo geek. I have the 17 speaker system. Planning to replace them, do you think it's worth finding oem or replacing with off the shelf speakers? If they miss match with the opposite side, think the sound difference will be noticeable? I've done some searching online and seems to replace 2 of the factory speakers will cost about the same as replacing all 4 main 6.5" door speakers with something name brand. Quick Crutchfield search I could replace all 4 with some Rockford Fosgate's for around $200.

How did it work out? I've had a similar problem -- 3 of my 4 lower door speakers have now gone bad on my 2011 Sedan (17 speakers system), so I'm figuring it's just a matter of time before the 4th one goes. I called my local Genesis for replacement speakers and was told they were on back order with no idea when they would be available. So I am interested to know how your quest for aftermarket speakers went. I was once told you can't do it by a car audio place but I'm not sure of their reasoning.

Usually speakers dont go bad unless there blown. I've got the 17 speaker system in a 2013 sedan I added a 12 inch sub mounted using the ski hole and the trunk as the infinite baffle. I'm an audio enthusiast I use my LG phone that has an excelent DAC built into it and stream using the surround on the Lexicon which was developed by Jim Fosgate himself amazing sound that's all I can say. Try googling Lexicon car speakers many are sold on eBay.

Thanks for the tip on Ebay, I see several speakers there. And yes, everything sounds great when all the speakers are healthy. Yours must sound great with the woofer setup. BTW, do you know if the lower door speakers are the same part # for the front and rear doors? It seems like they are.

Don't know about that. Yes the sub really fills in easy to fine tune too. Had my front windscreen replaced with acoustic glass same as in the Bentley took it to another level of clarity.

Yea that's what I wound up doing, picked up one from ebay for my front door. Haven't gotten around to replacing the rear door yet but will do the same when I do. My rear speaker only gets muddy when I really crank the music so keeping volume reaonably it doesn't bother me. From what I could tell they're the same part number on both front and rears

Thanks for the update. I went the ebay route as well -- about 60 bucks cheaper than what my local dealer wanted to charge! I see that South Korean dealers will ship them here as well, so hopefully that means a continued supply into the future. As for the front/rear door thing, when I had the last speaker replaced at a local shop, they noticed that our Hyundai dealer had sold me the wrong speaker, and (in a nice move by them) they went to the dealer and exchanged it for the correct one. I forgot to ask them about it, but it led me to believe there might be a difference, maybe not in the speaker itself but in the bracketing/housing of it. Hopefully that's not the case.

I love my after market speakers. I feel like I get a more full sound. Still in the process of replacing all the speakers. I have the 17 speaker setup as well.

I’m not impressed with the 17 speakers in my 2023 G70. The one in the dash is the best speaker and most of the sound comes from there. It’s very hard to balance with the low quality speakers in the back.
The 2 subwoofers under the seats are not subwoofers. They barely make any sound. I took it to the dealer yesterday, saying my subwoofers don’t work. That’s where they told me they’re not subwoofers!
I’m going to take it to an audio shop and see what they suggest. I’ll probably start with adding one subwoofer.

Adding a subwoofer yes but also add an amp it relieves the stock amp from doing the lower frequencies you'll get better sound from the main speakers. Also I suggest you disconect those speakers under your seat. My 2013 genesis is the 17 speaker Lexicon there is a ski hole into the trunk I used a 12 inch woofer using the entire trunk as the box we disconnected the shelf subwoofer used those wires to the subwoofer amp sound is amazing ive been an audio enthusiast since the early 90's. Using the trunk is called an infinate baffle.
