If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Thanks and fingers crossed what they do solves your issue. I really liked the GV70. But having an engine blow from their own manufacturing error, was the straw that broke the Camel's back for us.
When/if you get remuneration from your issues, please report to this forum.

So my GV70 saga begins, 2024 Sports Prestige 2.5 with 2000 miles. Took it in this morning for the “ whinning” differential and was told they would tighten the “locking nut” first, following the Genesis protocol, and replace differential later if the locking nut fix didn’t work.

Ok, that’s the plan. My SA calls at 1:00 to explain that when they dropped the body pan there was grease and oil all over the place…….the TC has broken. Never had any indication. So now we’re getting a new TC.

So hopefully, when I get the vehicle back with the new TC and “tightened” locking nut my problem will be solved…or at least until it has to go back to have the differential replaced when the “fix” didn’t work. At least they gave use a nice 3.5 GV70 as a loaner.

Hoping these two fixes solve the problems as we really like the GV70.
Update: Got the new TC, SA said they “looked” at the differential and it was “ok”, but it wasn’t…..still whines. Back to the dealership. I emphasized and reemphasized that the differential was the specific reason I brought the car in. Let’s see how long it takes to fix the original problem.

Have the Service Manager go with you on a demonstration ride to prove the whining. Don't know your location obviously, but if you are anywhere close to Ocala, FL, I can certainly recommend Jenkins Genesis.

I suggested that, too busy when I was there. They’re supposed to drive it. I guess “looking” at the differential and deeming it “ok” didn’t work.

They weren't "too busy" to have you sign the sales agreement, were they? Grab the General Manager. Don't leave until you get him or the Service Manager to go on a demonstration ride.

Didn’t buy it there, but that shouldn’t matter. Now if I get the car back and it’s not fixed I’ll be taking the General Manager for a ride. I didn’t need to push it today, have their loaner, but today was the last time I’ll play nice. Such a great SUV to have these issues. We selected Genesis over Audi, Lexus, Acura, Infiniti, MB and BMW, most of which we’ve owned in the past. Hope we don’t end up having made the wrong decision.

Today, I got a formal offer to repurchase the GV70, which was fair. I don't get dinged for mileage as they follow the lemon laws of the state of Florida (which doesn't take into count miles driven), but the worst they could have dinged me for would have been 850 miles. I get the 4 payments I've now made on the car back. All they did really was take into consideration what I paid for the car, minus what I owe on the car. In my case, I'll be getting a check for about $42,000 as I put a LOT of money down on it. Now we have to wait for a transfer agent and for them to cut a check, which unsurprisingly they said typically takes about 3 weeks. Excruciating process and not for the faint of heart, that's for sure. At least this nightmare is heading to a final conclusion.

Finally, new differential on order. It took a few days at the dealership to determine it was differential whining, but finally decided to replace it.

Is $42K what you put down when you bought it? I'm curious if you were out of pocket anything. You shouldn't be if they bought it back from you, essentially giving a full refund. I hope you are not out of pocket a single dollar. The stress was payment enough.

Yes, I'm getting exactly what I paid into the car. I'm not out of pocket for anything other than as you suggest, the incredible stress this has caused us.

Just had my differential changed and still notice a “slight” hum at 50 mph, very slight but there. With 2000 miles in the GV70 I’m still not sure what “normal” sounds should be. Have any of you, or do any of you, still experience a slight hum in your GV70 at 50 and do you consider this as normal? Thanks.

Mine has over 25k on it and was serviced recently for a very distinct sound while maintaining any speed between 51 and 58 mph. It was an easily identifiable hum that went away as soon as the accelerator was released or pressed further. Never heard it outside of that range. They replaced the rear diff after first adjusting it according to the TSB. So far, so good.

I am officially out my GV70 SP Nightmare. Yesterday, I signed the car back to Genesis and got the check. I no longer own the car and as long as I live, will NEVER EVER EVER EVER consider a Genesis!! EVER EVER!

I wasn't aware you owned the forum? Apologies, but in other words, there's the door, don't let it hit you on your way out! Yes, I'm done and have joined the Mazda forums where people don't have such major issues as we see here on the Genesis forums. Pity as Genesis cars are great looking. If anyone sees the extreme issues and horrible treatment I received from Genesis and they avoid a buying mistake they might greatly regret, I'll hope they appreciate my posts.

Thanks for the admonishment and for showing me the door. And leave I will do.

Having my 2023 GV80 3.5 differential replaced for the second time next week. First replacement was at 2000 miles. This replacement is at 9,000 miles.

Whining noise is the symptom. Metal flakes in the differential oil confirm failed differential.

You'd think they would be all over this problem but it still exists after three model years in both GV70 and GV80s

Have you heard if '24 and '25 models still have this problem? Wouldn't surprise me, but I haven't seen anything posted on those yet. I've had two replaced too.

I have a 2024 GV70 and at 2k have had the TC and differential replaced. Don’t have enough miles to determine if the differential is ok, but I do have a squeaky steering wheel. Anyone else have that.

Problem is, we really like the GV70 and just hope Genesis can overcome these issues.
