  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
No Genesis Yet!
I'm a 79 year old guy looking to buy a 2011 Hyundai Genesis sedan 3.8. I've owned just about all the types of cars out there at one time or another. Looking to step up from my extraordinary noisy 08 Honda Crv. From what I've seen and heard this car will fit the bill as my last one on this earth and I want it nice, smooth and QUIET!

Unfortunately, a 2011 Genesis is a lot like you and me. It’s “over the hill.” Suggest you focus on a newer model with modern safety, convenience and entertainment features. If the budget won’t allow a newer Genesis, just buy a Hyundai. Test out a new Tucson, or a Sonata.

I also am a 79 year old guy although I am not quite ready to claim that my current car will be my last.

I don't agree with PMCErnie often but this time IMO he is right.

If quiet is really important for you, consider an electric car. At a lower price point, for used, if you really want a luxury marque, consider a BMW I3. If you don't require a luxury car, there will be many choices out there for you. And, if you are willing/prepared to lease, there are some really good leasing deals right now on new ones. Polestar, for example, has a economical lease ($299 a month with $3K down). If you go the lease route, my thought is that by the time the lease ends there will be many EVs coming off lease so you will be able to economically buy your leased vehicle or turn it in and buy another one.

I wound up with a genesis sedan 5.0 r-spec with only 60k miles. Clean, 1-owner car. Like new. $14k. Quiet & classy. We'll see how it goes.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. I'm glad you found us! As you now see, the Genesis Sedan is everything you were looking for. Yes, a newer model would have some nice stuff - along with probably better reliability (as it's newer) - but also lots more technology - which can also mean issues...

So it sounds like you're happy. Miss anything about the Honda CRV?

Good luck. The biggest concern, to me anyway, would be that you have absolutely no warranty coverage to fall back on. These beasts can get expensive. I’m guessing you got a later model than a 2011.

got the 2014. Only problem now is the rear of the driver seat bottom is stuck at the highest point. I'm 6 ft tall and it's an uncomfortable position. Can't afford to let a shop do it so I'm gonna pull the seat out and see what's up. Unfortunately......I'm in PHX and it's hot as hell to be working on a car!
