  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2009 4.6 sedan with a check engine light on. 200k miles it's not the fuel cap..
I just need a good honest knowledgeable up on their latest stuff, that can make necessary repairs & maintenance in the Inland Empire area of CA. Please recommend.

Do you have the diagnostics code already so someone can point you in the right direction? Any local service shop should get you that for free and give you a clue what the issue is before you commit to a particular specialized shop.

There are a large number of OBD 2 scanners available thru Amazon for around 100 bucks..Some of the new ones have bluetooth capability that gives access to a lot of info..Google gives access to a Car and Driver magazine evaluation of a variety of them available..Hope this helps..S

I can tell you from personal history and there is a thread here that I shared. I stopped and got fuel at one of the cheapest places possible and I got a CEL that didn't have any codes. It was there for about 64+/- miles and 5 or 6 starts. I inquired with the geniuses on here that know these cars and they recommended I check the fuel cap. I bought by 2014 brand new and the gas cap always tightened to "1Click". I remembered that it didn't click and still doesn't. When I fuel the car I wrench the cap as tight as I can get it and haven't the issue since. Just a thought.
