  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

steering wheel camera on 2025 GV80

My new 2025 GV80 is driving me crazy. This is my 3rd genesis and my second GV80. I love loved my 2021 GV80. The self driving technology was quite an adjustment for me but it all did fall into place and the car was a jewel to me. We traded for a 2025 model in June.

This car's technology is about to kill me. If I move either of my hands to the 12:00 position on the steering wheel...I get a message that the camera does not see the driver's face (so the H--L what). My attention is on driving not on the camera and it's framing.....Then the cruise control shuts off. When driving down the interstate or by passes my speed suddenly begins to reduce. SHOCKING!!!!

Then of course my attention IS distracted from driving. The I am having to panic and check cars around me as I am trying to re set all the technology that has distracted me. Now of course my eyes are floating around to reset....My eyes are on the road in the direction I am moving when the VEHICLE TECHNOLOGY thinks it knows more that I do....I HATE this camera...the others are great.

One other thing I do not like...I am short and the angle of the instrument panel is not adjustable. It is awkward to read the instrument panel which also creates a distraction when the technology takes over control of the vehicle. Just a slight ability to tilt the instrument panel would be GREAT. I do not feel as safe in the 2025 GV80 as I did in my previous GV80.

The invasion of my personal space with technology is something we are simply having to live with but when we feel it compromises our ability to be as safe as we would like...it is time to reevaluate. Another GV80...I will have to see...before it was an absolute yes. If anyone knows a solution or work around for this camera...PLEASE comment.

You can turn off the sensors which monitor your eyes, at least on my Canadian 2021 Prestige 3.5.

Don't even respond to these "G" named accounts. Spam bs from sad plants from other car companies.

Hand at 12:00 - you also laid back sippin' on gin n' juice?

In any of the GV80's if you drive with your hands at the 12 o'clock position you are going to block the sensors.

My '21 3.5 Advanced+ does not have eye sensors

I turned that feature off in Settings. Don’t remember how I did it but I did.

I don't think my '23 Advanced 3.5 has the cameras - as I understand it they put them on the Prestige to support the 3D instrument panel effect. Maybe they repurposed them for the new "eyes on the road" nag feature?
