  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

'25 Gv80 Facial Recognition - Anyone have problems with this when using cruise control?

Yep. 2025 GV80 here and constantly get eyes not on road warning. I do wear polarized sunglasses and hear that is a cause of many problems so I just suffer thru the frequent warnings. Also seems like it happens more at dusk when sunlight is coming into the car from various angles. No way to turn off the eye sensor so I'm stuck with the annoying alerts. I just quickly remove my sunglasses and that usually (but not always) seems to make the system happy again. I never seem to get these alerts at night when driving without sunglasses. (No..I don't wear my sunglasses at night light like Corey Hart)

Wish they could adjust or fix this issue because I'm not give up my polarized sunglasses. Anyone heard if a fix is coming on this or have other suggestions to resolve??

Do you have a HUD? The polarized sunglasses don't play well with a HUD. I find a quality pair of tinted but not polarized sunglasses works very well in a car and lets me see the HUD clearly. My current car sunglasses are tinted but not polarized Oakley Holbrook with the Prism lens.

Yes, my 2025 GV80 Prestige has the HUD and I'm ok giving that up to wear my polarized Ray-Ban sunglasses. I've had Oakley's before so might consider that.

Question for 2025 GV80 owners: do you have a pair of premium sunglasses you'd recommend that you know WORK without causing the constant "eyes not on the road" alerts from the vehicle. I don't want to buy a new pair only to find out they cause similar problems as my Ray-Bans.

I have a GV60 and only occasionally get the nag but it is a different model. I know that the non polarized sunglasses work well for the HUD and for me, the HUD is important.

In terms of whether tinted sunglasses would still cause your problem, I doubt that the quality of the sunglasses would matter. Do you have an old pair of non polarized sunglasses? If yes...try them out. Alternatively, you could buy a cheap pair of tinted sunglasses and try them. For example:

It comes in handy at times to have extra sunglasses.

Another idea: if you live near a Ray-Ban store (e.g., Lenscrafters or Sunglass Hut) they would likely let you borrow a pair of tinted ray-ban sunglasses to try them out in your car. The same applies to Oakley but I gather you are a Ray-Ban guy. I have both stores in my local mall.

21 GV80 prestige here, no issues.

2025 GV80 and have this issue occasionally but not as bad as you describe. Particularly annoying on long trips with boring, straight highways at 70+ MPH. I wish there was just a sensitivity setting to crank it down.

I have the same annoying issue on my 25. Once cruise is set, a 5 second glance sets off the warning and shuts off the cruise control. There has to be a downloadable fix for that - come on Genesis.

Not a problem with mine. Is this a sunglasses issue with you?

I have a pair of USAF issue flight crew sunglasses that have been issued for 60 yrs to pilots. They are not polarized but also do not work with my 25 GV80. Really frustrating. Constantly cause alarms. Have have a very expensive drive without cruise control vehicle.

2025 GV80 Cruise will not function at all with any sunglasses I’ve tried. My latest were non-polarized Maui Jims and it shut down within seconds of me putting them on.

Does the problem happen regardless of if HDA is being used or not? That is, can you still use cruise with your sunglasses if the HDA is turned off?

I've seen 3 cases of this happening. Apparently, it's an issue on the Hyundai side too and there's a fix in the works. No time line for that, but hopefully sooner than later because it's very silly.

2025 3.5 Prestige. I occasionally get the warning. More at first but adjusted my seat and steering wheel and only get on occasion now. I wear prescription sunglasses that are polarized and have never had any issue with cruise control or guidance. The HUD is a little dim with sunglasses but can still see. I see someone mentioned a 5 second glance. Just my opinion but that's more than a glace and I would expect a warning for that.

It is ridiculous to think that Genesis expects new car customers to go out and buy new sunglasses to accommodate their poor software programing. Genesis - just fix it!! Or allow the driver to simply turn off the warning. And while we're at it, I don't need my car telling when I need a coffee break. Allow the driver to disable that warning too. I've survived as a driver for 40+ years without HUD and Coffee Break warnings, thank you very much. My first but likely last Genesis.

I have found sunglasses that work with the stupid (Forward Attention Warning).
Oakley Men's Holbrook 57mm Matte Black Sunglasses w/ Prizm Grey Lenses. It's the Prizm Grey Lenses that work, I don't know any other brand have them.

Told by the dealership that Genesis has a reprogram in work and as of yet nothing. It performs the turn off with regular glasses also in very short order. Makes use of that option a no go.

Are your "regular" glasses polarized? That can make a difference.

Purchased my gv80 prestige 3.5t and went on my first trip.
I just stopped using the driver convenience.
I get constent warnings.
No glasses at all, adjusted my seat and steering wheel.
Very disappointed in the system.
When my wife drives there are a lot fewer.
I guess the car doesn't like me.
It is her car:)
