  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I don’t know if any of my fellow Genesis owners knew this but the company in Florida that was pretty much the only outfit that was willing to bore just about any throttle body they were sent is no longer in business. So I decided to start calling around locally to see if I could find a machine shop that was capable of doing this modification and produced quality work. I obviously have been successful and was able to be a part of the entire process. I had my stock 82mm bored to 85mm within 24hrs of my contacting them. Lmk what you think and if any one is interested. I highly recommend if you have this done that you have GEP tune reprogram your ECU

So if you get your TB bored out, you also need a larger throttle butterfly and maybe a different pivot shaft for it, right? Where would you get something like that?

When I sent my to the company in Florida they bored it out and made a new throttle plate for it.

You could get your intake manifold ported go to Big Dogs Porting on Facebook he said he can do it and He gives before and after flow results. Maybe ported heads next.

Morning Overdose!

I'm new to the Genesis World. Just bought a 2015 Triple Black 5.0. Take Delivery on Wednesday! I'm not new to cars as i have an 85,86, and 87 C4 Corvette that I have extensively modified and fabricated many parts for. Looking at this has anyone considered looking to see if another car companies Throttle Body will fit. I.E. A Challenger or Mustang 90mm TB? They look Fairly similar on the Electronic Throttle side.

The concerns are as follows:

The nipples on the bottom, Do you know if that is a Coolant Passage that can be bypassed or a Vacuum line?
Distance between bolt holes?
Size of intake behind the TB to ensure ports line up.

Let me know if you have any concerns i may have not thought about!

You don't necessarily have to answer those questions. just things i'm going to look into.

Let me know what you think about this? I'm going to be buying a couple TBs and intakes to play around with. I know the Aftermarket Community isn't too strong with these cars.

Thanks!

The lines on the bottom are for vacuum, the two on the sides are for the coolant, but the coolant passage on the side you can just unplug that and loop it back into itself and cause it really serves no purpose unless you live in cold, frigid weather.
5.0 =82mm
4.6 =80mm
The distance between the bolt holes on the throttle body is 114 mm (4.5 inches)
Coincidentally, the same throttlebody that is used on the Genesis 4.6 is also used on 26 Hyundai Kia models, which I’m not gonna list here and also that the 5.0L throttlebody can fit a Porsche 82 mm throttlebody so keep that in mind when you’re doing whatever and feel free to message me because I’d like to shoot some ideas your way

Thank you for the Info!

I think I requested you on Facebook. Steven Iannaco is my profile. I’m going to measure a buddy of mines Charger to see if the bolt holes line up. I also need to measure the intake manifold side as well. I’ll get to that when I clean the TB this weekend and do the coolant bypass.

I’ll message more on Facebook since it’s easier. Would be cool to hear some ideas and see if we can’t get some support for the community.
