  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My dogs set off the alarm. How do I disarm it?

If I park the GV70 with my dogs in the car, and walk away, the alarm goes off 30 seconds later. I can stop the siren with the fob, but it just goes off again 30 seconds later. Why is a 10lb dog setting off the alarm? And how do I stop that from happening? And please, no lectures about dogs in cars - I run a dog rescue 501c3.

I wonder if it's detecting movement in the car, and with the car locked, it's warning you that something alive was left in the locked car, such as a child or pet.

Does it happen if you don't lock the car?

The simple answer, it is not the 10 pounds, it is a living moving thing.
A search reveal this that may or may not pertain to your model

Unknown, but I can't leave the car unlocked. I'm pretty sure the car does not arm if left unlocked, so I suspect the answer is no.

I don't think this is true for the ROA, which is likely the alarm you are getting. It should not matter if the doors are locked or not. Fortunately, you can deactivate it.
Assuming that the 2025 GV70 is like the 2024 GV80...

You may get better help if you post in the forum for your GV70 instead of this G70 forum.

So given the simplicity of the answer, are you telling me that it makes sense that nothing can be in the car when the person with the fob walks away? Does that make any sense at all? If I leave my elderly father in the car for a moment while I go in the pharmacy to grab his meds, I can't leave him in the car without tripping the alarm and freaking him out? I can't bring him in given that his condition would make this ridiculously time consuming and taxing on him. Is this really the state of affairs with these Big Brother cars?

Unforch, I don't know what "ROA" is and I cannot, on God's green Earth, access that doc you posted. This Genesis site is way overzealous about ad blockers. I've disabled, them and click your doc on each of 3 different browsers and every single time all I get is an "oops" page on this forum telling me to disable blockers. Jeez.

Yeah, thanks for pointing out the G70 vs. GV70 mistake. I love this vehicle, but I sure wish that hadn't given the cars and the SUVs virtually identical names.

ROA is Rear Occupancy Alert. I use an ad blocker but it shows up perfectly, no clicks needed

Open your owner's manual and turn to page 5-38.

The owners manual wins again!

Krusty, you can also download a PDF copy off the Genesis website. It's great to have on the phone for quick searches of key words.

Much as the manual did (or may) contain the answer, one thing that is not particularly good about these Genesis (if that's the plural) is the documentation. Some of it is a downright disgrace. Some of it is nothing but pathways to nowhere. The help line, which I attempted to use right after purchase (because the dealer couldn't figure out my issue either), was a complete disaster. Endless back and forth with reps that couldn't remotely grasp what I was asking and with enormous amounts of time passing without responses. That was a different issue than the one in this thread and I'll spare the details but it related to using a cell phone and/or NFC card to enter and start the car. That led into the topic of the phone app as well. Much of what we (dealer, help line, and myself) covered was poorly documented, not correctly documented, or undocumented entirely. Maybe other car makers are having such issues as well, now that technology has turned cars into rolling computers. In short, great vehicle, but lots of tech that is clearly not ready for prime time (NFC card, fingerprint sensor, as a couple glaring examples).

Some is technology for the sake of technology. Competition has it so we must have it. Much it made by third party suppliers so the Genesis engineer just make a spot to fit the module and wire it.

Training? Perhaps a lack of it, especially with the sales guy who may not really give a damn about NFC cards so he is of little help. My experience with fingerprint readers is mediocre at best, don't want one in my car based on my experience. Maybe in time people will catch up to it all and it will work as planned.

Sorry to hear that. Sounds like things have gone downhill a bit since I bought my '19 G80. At least then, the owner's manual (all 1,100 combined pages if it) mostly makes sense and is informative.

My dealership experiences have not been stellar, but that seems to vary as well.

Our dealership experience was actually quite good. The dealer in Tuscaloosa, AL was very good and the dealer where we ultimately made the purchase in Huntsville, AL was excellent. The oddity of it all is that here in Birmingham, AL (the largest metro area in the state where Hyundai is headquartered and where the Genesis SUVs are built) there is no dealer. Go figure.
As to the 1100 page manual, I suspect it's better now than it was in 2019. I just think anything that requires 1100 pages is going to frustrate users. The entire manual is on-screen inside the car, too. I'm sure this is all true for other car makers as well. With tech comes a learning curve.

I keep the PDFs on my phone for quick search and lookup of key words, works pretty well.

As for the 1,100 pages, that was counting the pages of all the PDFs; the manual, phone projection, navigation, multimedia, DIS, Connected Services, etc. The owners manual is a mere 519 PDF pages.
