  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Lately, on random occasions, I start my car and my instrument cluster screen remains blank. Shutting the car off and back on doesn’t rectify the situation. Only waiting (sometime up to two minutes) before the screen finally goes on. Anyone else experience this? Seems to have started after that last OTA update, but don’t know if it’s related or just coincidental. Problem I foresee is because of the random nature of it (I.e. can’t replicate it on demand) dealer may be unable or unwilling to do anything about it unless they can replicate it themselves.

This may not help, but I would definitely try the simple reboot process: With the vehicle in Accessory Mode, press and hold both the Map and the Setup buttons until the center screen goes black and the Genesis logo appears.

Thanks. Already tried that, but still happening randomly.

Are you parking outside? It happened to me twice last week when I parked outside and the temps dipped into low 40-s. Preheated the car on a third day and it was fine. Will address on my next service.

PS Take a picture for the dealer

Interesting theory, but I’ve never had this problem in cold weather before.

I will note that this is the third “electronics-related” issue I’ve had with the car in the two years I’ve owned her. Dealer took care of the other issues, but I’m starting to get a little worried about how temperamental she is :-(

That's the first thing that jumped out at me, since I never parked outside before.
Could be as simple as the loose connector affected by chilli temperature

Right after I had the latest update, I went for a drive and parked the car outside (I do not have a windshield sunshade) and returned to the car about 2 hours later. It was very warm in the car (car is normally parked in the garage) as it was a warmer than normal sunny California day. When I started the car the front screen behind the steering wheel lit up but the screen to the right was just blank. That's never happened to me in the 2 years of ownership. I turned off the car and turned it back on and it was fine. It has not done it since... I have no idea what caused this i.e. was it the heat in the car with direct sunlight on the back of the cluster, the last update, or was it just some random incident that can't be explained.

He was referring to the instrument cluster, not the right screen

Yes vexige, I understand that, but I just wanted to mention this in case anyone else had an issue and if it was just limited to the instrument cluster. The more information we all share with each other helps us all out.

This one has worked well for me over the past summer. I also live in California.

Thanks gvjim. It says it's for the GV60but is it actually a "custom type" fit? If so this is a very good price. I had ordered a similar one from WeatherTech for another vehicle and that was also a vehicle model specific and it fits perfectly for our other vehicle, but it was about $85 with shipping.

I (newly) have this issue as well, and yes, it happens on cold mornings.

I also park outside. when I remember to turn on climate before I get into the car, it doesn't happen, but it wasn't an issue last winter. good idea to take a picture for the dealer, I'll do that next time.

Any chance this started happening to you right after the latest OTA update (i.e. the one that brought us wireless CarPlay)?

It fits perfectly in my GV60, easy to put up and take down quickly. So yes, I believe it is specifically fit to the GV60.

Yup, I am almost positive it's the temperature. The picture is taken few minutes ago, it's around 40 here...

Will have to preheat before leaving in a few minutes

I've seen a few Ioniq5 people complaining about similar issues.

Preheating and temperature management can maybe mitigate it. But really, this is a repair (hopefully under warranty) issue.

This morning, temperature was in mid 30's F, but issue did not occur. For me, at least, it doesn't seem to be temperature related.

I have also experienced the same Blank Instrument panel problem. I've had the car since September 2024, right before the wireless Carplay update. So not sure if this issue is related to the update.

I can confirm it seems to happen more often when the weather is colder or if it sits overnight or haven't driven it for a few days. The display will always come back on, sometimes in a few seconds of driving and sometimes it takes up to a couple minutes.
It happens intermittently and seemingly random.

I have tried changing display settings, All Dark, manually lowered and increased brightness, but the problem still persists.

I have suspected it is related 12V battery state of charge. I am looking into get a 12V battery monitor to see if it's related.
I have taken some photos and videos in case I need to take it to the Genesis Dealership.

The last few days it was warm so display worked as usual. Actually, I don't even have to start the car- once I open the dr. door and don't see the car symbol on display I know that it'll be off. Again, preheating the car few minutes before departure seems to fix it...

For those that follow the "Genesis GV60 USA" Facebook group, I'm seeing more and more folks complain about this blank screen issue. My working theory is that it's software related. Here's my initial thoughts:

1. For me, the problem began happening after the last OTA Update. (Curious if anyone experienced this issue prior to the update.)

2. The last update provided Wireless CarPlay capabilities which also displays the map on the instrument cluster - so we know software that operates the instrument cluster was modified for this update, with the potential to introduce new software bugs.

3. Some folks have hypothesized that it is related to colder temperatures, and that pre-conditioning the car resolves the issue. In my experience with this issue, it occurs regardless of ambient temperature. It's possible that by enabling pre-conditioning, that action attempts to display something on the cluster screen, so that by the time the driver enters the car, the cluster screen has already had time to "wake up", thus giving the false impression that warming the car is what corrected it.

4. This reminds me a bit of the previous OTA update that got stuck at 63% for some of us. Genesis original solution to that was to replace the head units until they finally figured out how to correct it with a firmware update. My guess is the same will happen here.

Curious to know if anyone has any additional thoughts on this.
