  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

after some 5-6 week of having "the fuse" removed to disable trac control. some aprox 2-3k miles. I have re installed it and now when i turn off the ecs(traction control) with the button on start up it totally goes off. I am able to lay down a 50' double stripe from a dead stop! hmmmm go figure?

any thoughts? is the ECU "learning" what I want it to do?

I have been reading about this ESC switch today, as I was stuck yesterday. And I am confused by your question.

It would seem to be operating properly if you switched it off. Does it come back on by pressing the button again?

how long have you had the fuse back in?

The normal operation of the ECS is not to allow wheel spin even with the ECS disabled.

So what does the ESC Button do?

The ESC button slightly "tones down" how much the computer will nanny your traction. It really doesn't to all that much from what we can tell. What bradyb is referring to is the ESC kill accomplished by pulling a fuse. That allows you to completely disable the nanny and burn rubber, but also disables any safety the computer affords you.

thanks guys for answering all the questions saves me mad time with typing!

here is the update..... fuse has been back in now for aprox 570 miles. Noticed yesterday while pulling out into street trac grabbed the rear when wheel spin caused yaw (side-slide) can be dangerous if opposing traffic is coming in hot. I really think we need a tuner to step up and figure this out. Its like its totally of but any side to side or cornering and it will kick back in.......

That sounds to me like stability control is on, but not traction control.

there must be a way to hook up a laptop and interface with and look into the ecu and modify settings like shift points, cooling fan temp on off, spark advance, traction control on/off, stability control on/off, fuel pressure/pulse modd and duration.
