  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have the 2009 "bouncy" suspension which I desire. I am after some advice here to get STIFFER shocks to better control bumping action around corners

any thoughts? does anyone know of an immediate solution other than coil overs?

People have said before that they think the car is over-sprung, so stiffer shocks might actually help. Please let us know what you find.

The ride is already "Harsh". (I hate the turm "bouncy" as that gives the impression that it has a soft bouncy ride, like a 58 Buick, which stiffer shocks would help). If you install stiffer shocks, it will make the car ride like a buckboard. Bad idea IMHO.

Yes,

Upgrade to the 2010 parts I stated in my upgrading 2009-2010 thread. The ride is firmer, more controlled and 90% correction of the bumping.

"So I recently bought an early 09 Genesis used and had read some of the concerns about the unsettled bouncy suspension but after several test drives on decently paved roads, I did not notice the problem. On the ride home from the dealership, I went over some harsher roads with bumps etc., and the 09 Genesis became unglued and could not absorb multiple bumps and bounced all over the place. After investigating and finding that Hyundai made changes in mid 09 and in the 10 model year, I investigated if it was worth the money and trouble to upgrade the parts. After a test drive of the 2010 3.8 over some real rough bumpy roads, I noticed a real noticeable improvement as the car was much more controlled. The bumpiness was reduced by 70-80% and the ride handled bumps much better. The ride was still firm but better controlled. It was very apparent in driving both my car and the 2010 back to back."

Im looking to trade in my 09 for a 2012 5.0 V8.. yeah babeeee !

Actually the news about the suspension change for the 2012 models portends a "bolt in, stock" upgrade for the previous model years. The only significant complaint about the Genesis for me is the too firm ride..I've thought about trading the Genesis for my entire year of ownership. I hoped for an aftermarket solution but this might be even better. I'm waiting for the 2012 to appear with a review of the ride quality (It appears that Hyundai took note of the complaints about the ride of the Genesis...Consumer Reports called it nervous and out of place for a car of this quality. And while CR was referencing the 2009 for me it is still true for the 2010). If the ride has been adjusted and is less jarring AND the parts are interchangable I'll be one of the first to upgrade ny car. A Genesis with a great ride..now that's a great car!
