Help - Brake Caliper Upgrade Question

Hey everyone, hoping someone on here knows if what I want to do is as easy as I hope it is, or if it would require more effort than I'm willing to put myself through.

My Genesis is a '2021 GV80 2.5T AWD Prestige' model but did not come with the larger brake calipers that have the Genesis name on them, it came with the smaller generic ones. Having a general understanding of manufacturing and cost efficiency practices used by large companies such as vehicle manufacturers, I assume the parts are somewhat interchangeable (at least i hope they are here). Does anyone know if you can simply purchase the larger Genesis branded brake calipers and install in a "bolt on" fashion without having to do any modification/customization? There are many sites that sell new and used OEM parts where I can purchase them. And my end state desire is to purchase some, have them powered coated and then install them.

Thank you in advance for any insight or advice any of you have. I have included some pictures of the smaller OEM ones, and the larger Genesis branded ones that I suspect you are already all too familiar with.

I've been able to find online that the rotor diameter is 14.2 on both front and back for the models that have the smaller brakes. Mine was a prestige model and came with the oversized wheels (22"), but I suspect that my front rotors are still the 14.2. The ones that have the oversized breaks (usually the 3.5T models), come with 14.9 rotors in the front only.

So it looks like I would need to upgrade the rotors in the front as well, but not sure if there are other components besides the rotors that would need to change as well.

For anyone who may be interested I've been doing a lot of research, cross referencing parts between mine and the 3.5T Advanced model that comes with the brakes I want. One of the Genesis Techs I spoke with mentioned that the larger 4 piston brakes (branded with Genesis) are actually a Brembo brake.

I've scoured through the below OEM manufacture site part by part for similarities and discrepancies trying to see if they would be compatible across models. I've got some more research yet to do, but at this time I do believe they will be compatible. This assumption is based on the similarities in parts across models. The ancillary components such as splash shields, bolts, brake line hoses, and sensors are largely all the same including the hub assembly. So far the only real difference I can find is the front rotors are larger in size, and then of course the caliper assemblies themselves. The assemblies come with everything they need including the pads, bleeder screws, caliper guides, anti rattle clip, and caliper plug, etc.

For anyone who may be interested, I was able to find a website that sells parts from recently wrecked vehicles for a fraction of what new parts cost (copied below named B Parts). They check and grade the parts so you know the quality you are receiving.

I was able to order two caliper assemblies for a total of $574 vs new which would have costed $2,234.75 (savings of $1,660.75). The calipers I ordered are from a 2022' GV80 2.5T AWD Prestige model (one year newer than mine), and only had 10k miles on the vehicle. It was rear-ended pretty substantially in that it totaled the whole vehicle. They even provide the window sticker to the vehicle on the site to view.

I still need to order rotors (mine has the 14.2 in the front vs the 14.9 for the oversized Genesis branded Brembo calipers), but so far everything appears to be a straight bolt on swap. Stay tuned.

Multiple systems operate the brakes and rely on tightly controlled parameters. Not nearly as simple as just swapping parts anymore.

This has been a concern of mine. From what I have been able to find they do seem compatible in every way. Its an OEM part that is offered for the model, and the ones I ordered are off a 2022 model. I can't seem to find any technicians or service managers willing to divulge any additional information or help further as they view it as "extra work" and just give me the run around. But, I am optimistic, I'm not throwing away the old rotors/assemblies so if it does not work for some reason I can always pivot back.

Update on my parts from the OEM website. They sent me an email letting me know that I needed to pay more in shipping costs and that their website had incorrectly estimated those costs. The email stated I needed to contact them in 48 hours or the order would be canceled. I called and approved and the order was back in processing. One or two days later I received an email that the order had be canceled with no explanation\reason.

When I called them again they said the reason was their website had the rotors listed at the wrong price, and they were actually around $300+/ea. When I asked why they did not call to see if I was ok with this price the rep had no good answer for me. So based on this interaction I will be looking elsewhere for my rotors.

I did receive the calipers and was hoping to do a test fit but since I can't without the rotors I did go ahead and drop the calipers off at a powder coater to get them cleaned and powder coated to match the vehicle.

Got my calipers back from powder coating, targeting working on installing them next week. Will keep everyone who is interested how this goes, and if unsuccessful I'll let you know why.

Wanted to give everyone an update. Operation caliper upgrade was a success. I'll let everyone know if there ends up being any issues, but had the new rotors and calipers/pads installed today. I have not had the time to give them many miles of test driving/braking since I picked it up after work, but so fare everything operating as they should, and no issue with the vehicle electronics. I'll need to get some better pictures with daylight, but uploading a couple for everyone to see the final product.

It's been a few days and everything seems to be working as it should. I would say the upgrade was a success. Because I am so pleased with how they turned out I am now going to do the rear brakes as well... Stay tuned.

Parts showed up today to upgrade my rear brakes. Will have the rear calipers powder coated and will get them on and update everyone that may be interested.
