  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So in my 2015, the hood doesn’t stay open anymore.

What would yall suggest I get to replace it? Is it something I can easily do at home with the part?

I just replaced mine a couple weeks ago with these. By far the least expensive option I found and they seem to be pretty high quality. Also come with instructions that are fairly simple to follow, just make sure you have someone or something to hold the hood up while replacing.

Thanks for the reply! What’s the difference of getting something like this vs the OEM ones?

How hard were they to install?

Sorry for delay, installation was very easy and there are instructions in the box. Only tool you'll need is a screwdriver or something small like that to release the clips on either end. I can't say how they compare to OEM other than the price is significantly less. They still seem like good quality, I assume the OEM price is high because they moved on to using a different part number on newer cars and supply of the OEM is limited now.

Recently, a gust of wind blew my wife's car hood down on my head while I was doing an oil change. I have a pair of these on order...

I second the suggestion for Lift Supports Depot. I purchased a pair of hood supports from them in 2023 for my Infiniti G35, and could not be any more pleased. Night and day difference. They work wonderfully, and they're very easy to install. Definitely recommend.
