  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Many so-called mechanics tell me, you have to change the entire front strut assembly, passenger side.
Actually change EVERYTHING for a little bend?
Serious options please.
Thank you;

...for a little bend?
There are really only 3 main parts to the strut assembly - body, coil spring and top thrust bearing. Whatever impact enough to cause "a little bend" in your strut likely was pretty severe. You'd probably want to change out the top bearing along with the bent strut... especially if you are already paying for the labor to remove the strut assembly and then take it apart. About the only thing you could reuse is the coil spring. If that's what you've been told, then it's reasonable.

Also, depending on the shop's hourly rate, it might not be worth your while to pay for disassembly and reassembly in order to reuse the old springs. Might be easier to take out the old strut and reinstall a brand new strut assembly.

Stock front struts is not serviceable, so the whole strut body is a single Part Number. If yours has electronic suspension control, it'll cost you a pretty penny.
