  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Connected Services - renew or not?

The offer to me, both online at the Genesis website and verbally on the phone, was 50% off. I thought that was a fair price and I took it for the 2 (of the 3) packages that were useful to me personally. For example, I do like the convenience of OTA updates for my 2021.

Let me save you a lot of grief. If you are planning to renew, do not wait until it lapses. It’s not trivial to get it restarted. Also if you don’t get an email, be sure to call them before it lapses
Thank you for your advice and help, I appreciate it.

My Genesis Connected Services is expiring next month, it’s been a fast 3 years.
I have the option to renew the 3 packages - Connected Care, Remote and Guidance for $178/yr (that’s with the 40% discount).
I have 16,000 miles on my GV80, only trips to the dealership are for regular maintenance and 2 recalls. Love the car, no plans to sell.
Any thoughts on renewing the Genesis Connected Service? I haven’t needed or used much of the services yet, but, of course, things tend to pop up when the warranties and service agreements have just expired. If it included the Concierge Services, it would be an immediate renewal, too bad it’s not included.
It’s not about the cost, I can spend that on coffee in a month! I’m only looking for some thoughts, advice or options on the GCS renewal.
Thanks!
My thoughts on the services is that you cannot trust Genesis. Technically, my service was up 10-30-24. Based on the forum, I called and asked for the best rate. They stated 50% and gave me a 3 month extension. Sent an email stating services extended till 1-30-25 and at that time I can get a 50% discount. Get a call the next day and customer service states they cannot honor that agreement. Esentially I said no way for a luxury car company to treat customers. Then was told they would honor agreement. Then I'm checking my charge card activity last week and find a charge from Genesis Connect for $31.56. Called and was told that was a monthly charge. I told her my expiration date of 1-30-25. She states she will refund the amount and I asked for a confirmation email to which she agreed. After 5 days and no email, I called again. Of course you are never going to talk to the same person. I was told they cannot issue a refund or get my 50% discount unless I cancel my services. I told them to cancel my services effective 1-30-25. Now the next day, today 11-5, all services have been cancelled. Ready to tell them to take the car and shove it if this is the way they handle customer service. I now have to call and again try to straighten this mess out. By the way, services have been cancelled, but still out the $31.56.

You just answered your own question. I say get it.

If I end up keeping my car, I will renew mine for sure. I use it just about every day.

Yes, I concur. Choose your battles in life. This is not one on which I would want to expend my remaining time.

I did not renew mine, for the reasons many have mentioned above. The remote start was probably the function I used the most, but its not necessary nor worth that much. I haven't looked back since.

I received an email today from Genesis offering 40% off if I renew by January 5.
Yeah I got the same email, however, I still don't think the services are worth it for me personally. For them positioning Genesis as a luxury brand, I feel like the connected services should just be included. But I won't lose any sleep over not having them .

Wend do your expire? Mine is done on January 5. I have not gotten the email yet.

Bo-o-o-o-ring. Do whatever you want guys. I think we've already heard enough.

I bought my car on January 17, 2022. My app says that my service expires on February 18, 2025 on one page but when I click on manage subscriptions they say that I have one month left of my free trial. I will call Connected Services for clarification. As suggested earlier in this thread I will ask them if they can provide an additional discount beyond 40%. I believe that starting with 2023 models that Connected Services is complimentary with no expiration date for the original owner.

Unfortunately it is the luxury brands that are pioneering the subscriptions. A bunch of Mercedes require a $1200/year subscription to unlock horsepower that is already shipped with the vehicle. BMW is one of the worse, with subscriptions for everything from heated seats to remote start ($105/year) and driver assistance functions ($210/year). Looking over their list of pay-to-play options, Genesis is a bargain... Tesla does this too. It is a major annoyance, but once automakers identify another source of revenue, look out!

Try this code, it worked for me today for a 50% discount. It was not sent to me, but when I talked to a girl on the phone today she asked me if I had gotten this code. I had not. Also, she wanted me to terminate my current contract and start a new one to get the discount. After reading about people that let their sub run out, and the trouble they had reconnecting, I decided not to go that route. But I did try the code she gave me for renewing and it worked.

GCSLUXURY

Good luck

Jhon did you get to complete the transaction by paying for it over the internet?

Yes, but you have to jump through hoops. They have changed to checkout process in the past few months. They make you approve three nag screens and you have to scroll through the entire message before you can check it off. Then if you did not set up your payment method ahead of time, you have to do it all over again after you fill out the credit card info. So be sure to set up the credit card first.
Good Luck

IF, big if, you plan on keeping Connected Services, hold out for the 60% offer!
The change from 50% to 60% is fairly marginal. If you use it, the perils of it briefly turning off IMHO far exceed the value received from fighting for the last 10%. unless, of course, it becomes a matter of principle when dollar value and time ceases to matter.

I lost all connective services last August. I do not miss it at all.
Only draw back is OTA updates, but, as I normally download & install, it's no great loss.
The weather on the right of the infotainment screen is also lost, but it was usually wrong anyhow.
Route guidance and their map is a joke--worthless!

I get all I want from the remote on my fob and Apple CarPlay using Waze (uses Google Maps) or Apple Maps.
Many weather apps on my phone!

Unless Genesis finally relents (doubtful) and makes it free, They'll not get my renewal!
My 'protest' that newer Genesis vehicles get it free, but we early adopters need to pay.
Is this part of connected services?

I posted about it here and am getting conflicting info as how to get the signal back.

How to get HD signal back?

Tks!

No, HD radio is part of the radio and HD is broadcast by some stations, not all. It has absolutely no connection to Genesis's 'Connected Services'.
