  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

No need to re-badge

Based on reports I have seen the Genesis was spun off last year in 2009 but that is not advertised yet. The Genesis is listed as a separate line on the JD Power initial quality reports.

Oldspice, I have the complete badge kit if you want to purchase it from me. It is a very long story why you cannot purchase the badge kit from Hyundai here in the USA directly. However, when I get the kits from South Korea they come in Hyundai packaging. Most Hyundai managers I have spoken with at training schools feel the hassle of obtaining the badge kit is not worth their time.

I say give credit where credit is due
Absolutely NOT ashamed to drive a Hyundai

Why did you re-badge?

If my Genesis didn't have the wings badging, I would have missed the enjoyment of telling a few people "no it's not a Bentley, it's a Hyundai".

I came out of a Mercedes S Class (2nd one I've had) to the Genesis. Quite the opposite of ashamed or embarrassed to own a Hyundai, I am thrilled with the car - the way it drives and performs, the quality and the VALUE. Having said that, I just love the way the Genesis winged badges look on the car.

ditto!

Since you are aware that Hyundai has spun the Genesis line off and that Hyundai has informed the dealers Genesis and Equus will separate from Hyundai and be their own line, are we talking present or future?

I just picked up my 2011 4.6 last Saturday, I asked about the re-badge option and they said that Hyundai did not have any badge options but that I could find them on e-bay, we also talked about the Equus / Genesis show room that would be seperate from the Hyundai show room, square footage required, however they made NO mention of Hyundai dropping the H on the Genesis and I got the only option available, at this time, from Hyundai, the Hyundai H.

My dealer has the wings and installed them for me at a nominal charge. However with the wheel caps he wanted $150 including install......I laughed at that notion and purchased them off eBay from the SFR store for $55 and installed them myself in all of 5 minutes. ;-)

love the wings did whole car and air bag on streeing etc...pulled up to parking lot in nyc and they asked what kind of car ..I said bently they said we don't take bentlys hahaha told them hyundai they went wow ...very happy with car ..just some head unit things dealer can't get right but still enjoying car....

DJaxx,

I wish someone could tell me why V8 center caps cost 5-6 times more than V6 caps and are almost impossible to find even for the dealers??

Because I like the look on peoples faces when they try to figure out what kind of car I'm driving. Proud that it's a Hyundai, but prouder that it's cheaper than a comparable Euro or Jap "equivalent". Oh, and it looks better. Someone said it looks more like a Bentley.

Of course I'm in a paradox, I've done the body badges but still have the wheel center caps with the "H". When I get new wheels, that'll change, obviously.

True, but there is a post on the forum explaining how to DIY for $20. I ordered the actual winged center, not the whole center cap piece, just the winged part. I carefully removed the center flying "H" on the OEM caps and stuck on the new wing caps.

All took 20 minutes and cost $20:cool:

My choice was not due to being ashamed of driving a Hyundai. I'm more than happy to tell anyone about the fact it's a Hyundai...that I paid over 20-Grand less for...and now am as close to Mercedes/BMW etc that I may ever get. I ditched the flying-H cause I simply thought it was the worse logo I've ever seen and the options were inexpensive and much better looking. After all...it still says Genesis on the wing! If we purchase another Hyundai of any model, (we love the Sonota!) I'll hope I have options then to ditch the H........

I have to say the Lexus logo looks like a big nose, really ugly

Hyndaisvcdirector;

I believe the V8 wheel caps are manufactured by a 3rd party and not by KDM. KDM only produces the rounded wheel caps and not those with the ribbing associated with the longer spokes on the V8 rim.

This is correct. Korea does not have the V8 model and therefor no 18" wheels and therefor no KDM caps. The ones you see on ebay that look like KDM are in fact just modified V8 caps which you can easily do yourself for about $25. No need to pay someone $200+ ;)

Here is a link to a DIY. see post #27 and read on down. ;) http://genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=5082&highlight=heat&page=2

I'm amazed at how many folks have approached me to find out what kind of car the Genesis is...So to poke a little fun I've been telling them that its a Talbot Trifecta, to which folks tend to respond with a most dumbfounded look!!

Me too. If I had known this fine car was made by Hyundai I probably wouldn't have bought it. I have removed all vestiges of Hyundai branding except for the H logo etched into the widow glass and the logo that displays on the audio/nav screen. I have felt better about myself with each change, and if I can figure out the last two items I'm sure my self esteem will be through the roof.

:D

I have to do something to every car I've owned. Usually that means removing badging because it's simple to do and you know something is different but usually you can put your hand on it. But in the case of the Genesis, it had two holes in the trunk lid, so liking the "wing", I chose to put it on instead of the "H". First time my son saw the car, he said - love the car - hate the H.

+1 - the Hyundai H is among the least attractive car logo's I have ever seen. I would be tempted to rebadge/debadge any Hyundai model.
