In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hey guys, just got a new ‘25 GV80 3.5T Prestige at the beginning of the month and it does not have the wireless CarPlay update. When I click to see if it’s eligible for an OTA update, I don’t get prompted for anything. Is this something they are still rolling out over time or I have to bring it in to a dealer to do? I was under the impression it was OTA, so I was confused.

Also, I downloaded the navigation updates to an SD card and went to install it but cannot find an SD card slot anywhere. Felt so dumb, I’m guessing they got rid of it on the ‘25’s?

Lastly, random question. I don’t have cabin fragrance on my window sticker, so that means I don’t have it at all, right? If so, why is it enabled on the HVAC controls as an option?

Sorry for all the random questions, but otherwise loving the car so far! Only issues have been 2 damage incidents in the first weeks. Had a rock take a chunk out of the drivers side window trim, all the way through the black finish down to the bare metal. $430 for the dealer to replace. Also had a big rubber mat come flying off the truck in front of my wife while she was driving it on the highway and it hit the front main center grille, chipping the chrome off in 2 places and cracking the finish in 2 places. Dealer wants $2,300 installed after tax to replace it, so that’ll have to wait. Waiting for the ‘25 parts to show up in online parts catalogs and can purchase it for less than the $1,100 I was quoted for just the part and find a body shop to help me put it on for less than $900+. Woof!

If you clicking on the menu item in the cars setting that say something like "Update eligible" that is not a functioning button. It just is telling you that your are paid up on your connect services and are eligible for updates. You can always go to the Genesis owners page, log in and download the update yourself on a usb drive and install it yourself. Look for "Map Updates on the owners page.

Updates can be done with a flash drive that uses USB-C. As for the fragrances, did your GV80 come with a black box containing diffuser fragrances? Check your sticker for something called "mood curator" that should mean you have the diffuser. You can always check the top of your glove box to see if you actually have the diffuser equipped on your car.

Before you assume a body shop would be much cheaper, take a look at this YouTube video:

How do I get the wireless CarPlay update though if it’s not prompting me? The map updates are the only type of update available on that site, correct?

Thank you for sharing this! Might consider it. Wonder how many of the clips/screws have changed with the ‘25 MY facelift? 🤔

I have the mood curator and the fragrance button on the LCD HVAC control screen and there’s nothing in the glove box. I drive a car with the fragrance diffuser in the glove box, so I’m familiar with what to look for. That’s why I’m so confused. It was not on my window sticker.

The wireless update is part of the last map update.
Ah ok. Thats weird it’s lumped in with it. Good to know! I have a USB-C drive coming today. I did it all on an SD card first only to find out the ‘25 MY doesn’t have an SD card slot anymore. Lol

My 21 GV80 has the regular usb receptacle. "A" which is good because I do not have a usb stick with a "C" connector. But I do have an adapter.

It's it's not on your window sticker you probably don't have the cartridges (unless your dealer gave them for free). Mine did (was on window sticker) but have not tried them. You can buy them, but I've not read great reports on how good they are. And they are expensive.

New 2025 3.5 Prestige (4 weeks). I finally did the Update myself via flash drive to get wireless android auto. Takes a while to transfer from the flash drive (1+ hrs) but overall simple and it worked.

I purchased a glass protection plan and glad I did.

The fragrance dock is in the glove box, correct? I literally have nothing in it, just a regular glove box. I do have the mood curator and the fragrance icon on my HVAC controls, so I’m beyond confused.

Have you seen this video
It is not apparent just from glancing in the glove box

This is SUPER helpful. I was expecting it to be in the glovebox itself somewhere. I’m sure it’s there then. Will check in the AM, thank you so much for sharing this! 🙏🏼

I had the dealer do my update on my 2021 GV80 because the engine needs to be running while it is in progress it said. I live in an area where an idling car is a no-no! The update came out in August or Sept. last year so I would have expected a 2025 would have come with it. The dealer did it for free and I love not having to use the cable for Google maps etc.

You can drive while the update is going in. You won't have radio or navigation but you can take a ride and get a coffee.

Who wants to drive for 80 minutes (actual time taken) even to get coffee? :)

Not a problem, I guess I have more going on in my life and take trips that long frequently. I've done every update like that for the past 8 or 9 years. Most are 30 minutes or so.

The Canadian update which included wireless Airplay did not require running the engine during the install. Not only was it painless and saved gas, it only blanked the screen for a few minutes at the end of the process (during which we happened to be driving). The earliest updates did require running the engine the entire time.

This may be the case but my dealer in Victoria told me otherwise, but did it for free anyway. The ‘green folk’ here would have lynched me for idling one of the few gas cars on the block.
