Who here is interested in further sound insulating their Genesis?

Is anyone interested in further insulating their Genesis from road/tire and wind noise? If so, there are a few good "do it yourself" kits that I can bring into the forum store. The full kit comes with soundproof padding for the front and rear doors, hood, trunk, and fenders... They're made specifically for each Genesis vehicle and use a combination of lightweight Polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) microfibers, which absorb sound and vibrations with ease - while adding minimal weight to a vehicle unlike those made with heavy butyl.

They're easy to install as they're applied using spray adhesive and have holes pre-cut for pins and wiring. The full kit costs $375 plus shipping. They can be had without the fender pads for $260 plus shipping...

I'm really not looking for input from people who don't care to do these types of modifications. Some people love things like this and others don't see the need for it. It's like subwoofers. Some people like to feel their music - and some people don't. Some people like making their car faster - and some don't.

If you don't want to further sound insulate your vehicle, no need to let me know.

Thank you for your response - and all a matter of opinion depending on the person. I have personally helped a friend sound insulate a brand new Lexus LS500 because it wasn't as quiet as his Rolls Royce.

I agree. Although I don’t think I drove the one that had the double paned laminated side glass.

The Calligraphy is the top trim level, so her Santa Fe does have the fender pads.

What it currently does not have: a working transmission. It’s been at the Hyundai dealership since November 23rd, a replacement transmission has been installed, and apparently the new transmission is bad out of the crate.

For a 2022 with 32K miles, unacceptable. Seriously considering invoking Florida’s Lemon Law.

Putting a dual clutch transmission in a Santa Fe was not a great idea.

I’m definitely interested as long as I understand just how involved the fitting process is (I’m handy around the house but would prefer not to take apart my vehicle, especially while under warranty). I also would like to understand if there are any potential issues (parts that could rattle in the future, deficiencies in air flow, humidity, etc). I’m not familiar with what this “DIY upgrade” involves, so please forgive my ignorance.

Definitely would love to go ahead if I can manage it easily as a quieter car is always a plus in my mind.

I wish there were videos and/or instructions that came with the material itself, but it seems there are not.

For installation you'll need spray adhesive, a plastic fastener/removal tool, and a Philips head screwdriver.

For the doors, you'll need to completely remove the door panels. You can find how-to's for this on YouTube. After popping out any connectors, you'll need to unscrew the door handle and lock mechanism. The soundproofing material is applied to the door panel you removed - not the actual door.

You spray the adhesive onto the soundproofing material - and then apply it to the door panel. It has a strong stick - but you can move around the material for a bit before it secures... The sound proofing material has openings for where the plugs go - which you will want to reconnect and plug back in. You'll also need to reinstall the door latch/handle.

Other areas are similar. Just be sure to reconnect and plug everything back in before reinstalling the part you removed to apply the sound deadening material.

Hi Sal, I am definitely interested in further insulating my GV80 from the road/tire wind noise. I was one of the ones who replied in this forum to the initial Feb 18, 2024 posting on this topic. I replied in that post of my problems on Feb 21, 2024. I took my car back in to the dealer last week and once again the tech and service manager both went on a ride and said they didn't hear any unusual wind noise which just ridiculous. Please let me know more information about these kits and costs associated with ordering them. Thanks.

If some modification kit out there can significantly reduce my wind noise, the price will be worth it and justified.
