  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So I have a question for some of yall, so I was driving home and I smell a burning smell coming from the car. But when i started it up again(gas station) it started making a loud clanking noise and it slowly goes away the faster I go but in park at idle it dies. Any thoughts?
I've been had a Camshaft Position code and a Crankshaft code since I've had this engine thrown into the car(like 9 months ago) and it hasn't effected anything. But idk atp

For the "burning smell" part, did it smell like burning oil, or burning rubber, plastic, some other substance?

It def wasn't rubber but tbh I couldn't really tell, I'm so used to the smell of our transmissions I couldn't tell the diff

Okay. I don't know what to say next, because I've never smelled my transmission. Sorry. It sounds like you may definitely have other issues going on besides the clanking noises you also described. Maybe someone with more experience than me can chime in with better info.

I smell the trans when throwing it into manual mode sometimes and racing it. But the issue was Premature rod knock, was told by Genesis I need a new long block. It's about to throw a rod

Well if you want to confirm it, change the oil and inspect visually for metal. If it's sparkly you can start looking for a replacement engine. If unsure, take a sample of that oil and send to blackstone-labs.com (or your favorite oil analysis lab) and tell them your concerns. They can confirm the presence of excessive wear metals (bearings) in the oil. Blackstone will ship you a sample kit for free, return postage pre-paid by them.
