  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Welcome aboard, Bob! And thank you for signing up. I'm glad you found us. Congratulations on your new Genesis G70! Which BMW model did you replace? And how are you liking the G70 so far in comparison to it?

I replaced a 2020 BMW M550i. Loved the car. VERY powerful, quiet, and comfortable. But not practical for someone who drives 20,000 miles per year, mostly in rush hour traffic. And a single small coolant hose started to leak at the plastic connector on the expansion tank. Have to replace the whole hose. $90 hose, but over a 1000 dollars labor at the dealer. I spent a weekend doing it myself, saw firsthand the complexity, and vulnerability with all the plastic. Decided that’s not how I wanted to spend my time going forward. Those cars have to be under warranty to be reasonable, or low mileage use, IMO.

So far, the G70 is nice. Feels much lighter and sporty. I like the AWD with RWD bias, that is similar to BMW. The interior and exterior look nice. I love the remote start. The G70 and the 5 series are not in the same market segment, so the comparison is not fair.

Yes, this is true about the market segment. The G70 is more of a 3-Series competitor. And yes, the BMW M550i is a really impressive combination of luxury and sportiness. The cost to maintain BMW's, however, is a good bit higher than Genesis vehicles. And I'm highly confident your car will be more reliable than the 550i with a lower cost of ownership throughout the years... There's also a certain uniqueness to Genesis vehicles compared to BMW. Just a few nice things about Genesis ownership. Years ago, this move would have been a downgrade - but not really anymore.
