  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

As a Canadian 2024 GV70 Advanced + owner, I recently downloaded the April 2025 Premium Gen6 Map/Audio software update and manually installed it in my vehicle because OTA is not available here. In my opinion the map street name granularity/detail seems to be getting worse with each update. Only major roadway names appear despite my increasing the zoom level down to 50 m. When I previously asked about this with Genesis Canada Customer Care I was told that MapnSoft Engineers acknowledged that due to the increasing data requirements, they had to limit the detail level of street names. Not very functional in my opinion. I'm now using Waze via my Apply Car Play as my main navigation software. Are others experiencing the same or have I messed up something with these updates ? Also despite my setting up the temperature units to display Celsius, every few days when I start the vehicle it defaults to the Fahrenheit display so I then have to reset the temp units again. Suggestions ?

Anybody else getting a freak change in Temperature units occasionally? At least once a day when I get in and start my car the temperature has changed to F from C. I know it's not my doing because you have to go into Setup-General-Units to do so.

I made the mistake of updating the latest iPhone connective services update. Terrible in my opinion. The locate my car feature now only shows streets without points of interests near the car. I'm not happy with it. I would love to have the old one back.

Yes, I have the issue too. On one hand, it's good to know it's not just me. On the other hand, it's annoying as heck.

in speaking today with Genesis Canada Customer Care, they tell me that their Telematics Team is working to fix a number of bug issues reported with the most recent update. They said the last map update "was released too soon" and that a number of clients have reported numerous issues including those mentioned above. I was told that "they hope to have a revised update released this month"

Thank you! I hope they correct this issue soon.

In Canada they have removed the May 2025 update from their Navigation Update website .

As an update, I have now successfully installed the Nov.11/25 Navigation Update and everything seems to be working properly so far. This is a large file which must first be downloaded to your laptop or PC, requiring a substantial amount of free hard disk space, prior to transferring to a USB stick (64GB) which you can install in your Genesis. I ended up having to go to my local Genesis dealership who kindly downloaded the large file onto my USB. File transfer took about 45 minutes with my SUV turned off. Hopefully they have eliminated the bugs from the last version.

What year / model is your Genesis, I have tried many times to download "Nov 11/2025" software but says "temporarily not available". I have a Canadian 2025 GV80 Coupe (27" screen). I did manage to download by wife's 2025 GV70 (14" screen). But again no success with my 27" screen.

I have a a 2024 Genesis GV70 Advanced Plus. I took a look at the Genesis Canada Navigation Update Notification site and it only lists available updates for the 2021-2024 GV80. Perhaps the 2025 GV80 that you have will be coming in the future. Best to call Genesis Canada and ask when it will be available. Glad to hear that the download on your wife's 2025 GV70 worked.

Unfortunately, engineering planners tend to be rather shortsighted (and overridden by bean counters) when it comes to future-proofing for later upgrades. Not just in the auto industry, but across tech fields&products that require regular updates and are information/processing/storage hogs. Look how fast smart TVs run out of memory or processing power. What worked 5 years ago (or even 2) may not work today because so much more info is involved, especially with the advent of AI. So what you were told above is likely true, and may be partially to blame on the engineers, but more likely they were given a spec that said "we want a,b,c and you have ##Gbps to do it in." They did it at product roll-out. THEN marketing comes back to the same engineers and says, "Now please add x,y,z," but they have already built the car/product so there is no more memory or processing headroom for the engineers to work with. So in order to approximate x,y,z, they have to cut out some q,r,s, to make it work. 'More with less' becomes 'less with less'. A downward spiral. This used to be called "planned obsolescence," but now its probably more like "un-planned obsolescence." When California increased emissions standards a couple of years ago, Genesis adapted with new engine and software tuning to meet them. However as cars would drive over the Sierras, check engine lights would often now come on. Turns out they apparently had not considered or tested the revised system enough at higher altitudes. So that necessitated a recent recall of the affected systems for ECU re-flashing. As Rosannah used to say, "there's always somthin', ya know?"
