If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just 3 months ago just purchased a 2015 Hyundai Genesis 3.8L. with 58,000 miles. I had a check engine light come on, dealer replaced fuel pump control module. Now, foe the past few weeks, first at a slow speed
approaching a stop sign the thing shutdown and started back up screens went black and then back on again. I had Autozone hook up to diagnostics ( no check engine light came on) no codes.
So I thought maybe some glitch. It happened a few more times at a slow speed. The car gives a little jerk like you got bumped from behind. few days go by, and nothing. Took it on a 100 mile trip back and
forth. No problems. The next day at slow speed twice it does that, so I proceeded to head home to take it do my local hyundai dealer for diagnostic check. On my way home on the freeway
it does this at 65mph. talk about freak you out! It was like I got rear ended!! pulled to the shoulder thankfully no one behind or next to me on the right. Again started back up again after screens shutoff.
No check engine light has come on at all. I made it home with my flashers on the whole way. dealer checked battery 100%. diagnostics...no codes, he said he has no idea what it might be.
I currently am waiting for Hyundai corp. to get back to me after they were in touch with the Hyundai dealer I purchased from. I've read a couple stories where people put a bunch of money into their
cars and this still happened!! I'm wondering if anyone out there has experienced this with their vehicles and what was the outcome. With no codes they would be guessing and fixing who knows what.
I don't feel safe keeping this vehicle. It could happen again and this is a major safety issue. All safety recalls according to them pulling VIN# have been done.

Any help before I speak to Hyundai again would be appreciated. And no I did not get an extended warranty, I was going to purchase one just before this happened after I had to pay for the fuel pump control module, then this happened. Unfortunately in this situation even with an extended warranty and fixing what they think might be the problem? I don't want to be a guinea pig taking the car back and the issue is not fixed and I end up in an accident and they deem it my fault, due to a faulty unsafe car. I easily could have been rear ended on the freeway if I had a car behind me after what my car did. Thankfully I had no one behind me.

Do you have any other minor codes unrelated to engine? Perhaps body module or wheel sensor?

No codes at all and no engine light or anything else comes up on the screen before or after it goes black when it shuts off. It’s like all of a sudden you got rear-ended if you’re at a slow speed it’s a slight feeling of either hitting the brakes or getting bumped from behind but on the freeway at 65 mph it’s like somebody slammed you from behind or you slammed on the brakes all of a sudden, and then you have to pull to the side of the road And then the screens come back on and everything seems to be fine again. I have an ongoing case with Hyundai, we’ll see what happens.

Check the positive battery clamp. Remove the bolt from the assembly that bolts it to the side of the trunk. If you can then move the assembly/cable at all relative to the battery, that is a problem. Most solve that by using a battery terminal shim.

Yes, this was the next place I was going. A tell-tale on this is that the highest current draw on the car is turning the steering wheel while still. You'll notice that jumpy or uneven in assist when doing that if the ground is bad.

Thank You I'll have that checked. But they just checked the battery at the dealer everything seemed fine and battery was at 100%. They still couldn't pull any codes with hand held diagnostics.
IT goes to the dealer the 26th. I also have a case with Hyundai and BBB auto line. Working with both for a good outcome.

They check the battery at the battery. This is about a weak connection to the car that causes a current limit or variance. It never comes up in a battery test. But it can cause strange things and exactly what you describe.

Oh, thank you!! I will give them this info at the dealer when I take it in. Appreciate your help :-)

Yep, checking the battery and checking the battery connections are two different things.

Any update on this? My 2015 Sedan is doing the same thing. It seems to happen only after an initial drive to somewhere.

If I go to the grocery store, no problem. But when I come out of the store and get in my car to go home, it barely starts and then dies. Fuel Module replaced last week, but no luck. The transmission jerk is annoying but happens rarely. Main concern is not getting stranded after an initial drive to somewhere. Going to try new battery and connection next, as I’ve seen cars start acting crazy when batteries start to go bad, even though they test fine. My battery test came back totally normal, but it is now over 4 years old, so figured it’s time to go ahead and replace anyways.
