How to get Apple Carplay/Android Auto in a 2015-2016 Genesis Sedan Ultimate (9.2" Screen) - KPLAY

Hello fellow troubleshooters:

So after three tries, it’s in, seems to be working, so far, so good. However when I place a call with Siri, they can’t hear me, I can hear them fine. Any ideas?

No, again, Siri was operating fine without it and I was able to hear her, dial a call, what seemed like talk back and forth, without it. Still am able to do everything but the phone call situation. Go ahead, say it….

For me using AA, I needed the mic for phone calls, not sure if Apple requires it, but I would assume so.

Yeah, you have to use the mic if you make a call while in CarPlay - to answer, you can use the green steering wheel button & use as normal.

KPlay2 Update Zip: Kplay Update




Kplay2 Update Instructions (Non-Touch Version)




Before You Start

• Make sure Kplay2 is turned off.
• Unzip the update file directly onto the root of the USB drive (do not place it inside a folder).
• Use a clean USB drive formatted as FAT32 for best compatibility

Update Process

1. Turn off Kplay2.
2. Insert the USB (with the unzipped update files) into the USB port of Kplay2.
3. Turn on Kplay2.
4. The system will automatically detect the update and start updating.
   • If the update files were unzipped correctly, an “Update” message will appear.
5. 
   
6. Once the update finishes and you see the Kplay2 main screen, you will see an “Update” message on screen.
7. Press “OK”, then press “OK” again.
8. Kplay2 will restart automatically.
9. After reboot, you will see the update message again:
   • First message: Press “OK”
   • Second message: Press “Cancel” (this time no restart is needed)
10. 
    
11. Remove the USB drive from the device.
12. Do a screen calibration:
    • Press and hold for 10 seconds to enter calibration mode

Bluetooth & MCU Settings Check

After the update, verify and adjust the Bluetooth settings:
Steps:

1. Go to:
   • Main Screen → Settings → System → Factory Mode → Advanced Settings
2. 
   
3. When prompted, enter the password: 0000
4. In the Advanced Settings, check the following:
   • MCU Type should be: IMBC60
   • Bluetooth Type should be: BW-122
5. 
   If Bluetooth type shows BW-121, change it to BW-122 manually.

Notes

• All update files must be placed directly in the root of the USB drive (no folders).
• If you don’t see the update message after inserting the USB, the files may not be unzipped properly.

Unfortunately, it appears that KPlay is no longer in operation. Attempts to contact the company for support have been unsuccessful, and there are indications that the business may have shut down.

That's unfortunate. Once I lost Bluelink access to my car due to 3G shutdown, KPLAY2 + DroneMobile breathed new life to my car.

It does suck - I think that I've got a long LVDS cable of theirs that's going bye-bye. I haven't been able to figure out how to source another one.
