  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Free NACS Adapter Thread: Post Your Updates

I'm curious if the free adapter I received will work with my son's home Tesla charger?? Or is it only for usage with the Super Chargers? Also, has anyone actually used it on a Supercharger and if so how many kW did you experience?

Superchargers only. Need a TeslaTap or similar item for home (level 2) charging.

The GV60's E-GMP platform is limited to V3 (250 KW) and V4 (325 KW) Superchargers, and maxes out at either 97 KW (<2024) or 125 KW (2025+) when using a Supercharger.

Only works on super chargers.

Thanks Genesis. With only hour left in your third self-imposed deadline you send my MVHR email.
Has anyone called recently that can verify that the 6/30 deadline has not been extended?
How many of us are still waiting for the "gift from Genesis" and first email?

We still have not received our first email, I called Genesis CS last week (3rd time since May 30th) and they told me that as long as there is a record of someone requesting the NACS adapter (email, case number) they would still be eligible for the adapter regardless of whether or not they receive the "email" by 6/30.

June 30 Update.
Well the Revised Absolute Final Date is here and no email and, surprise surprise, my case manager is still "unavailable". I spoke to another case manager who said they can't help with my case but they are sure the emails will go out everybody by July 31! This is like the ice cream store that has a sign in the window "Free Ice Cream Tomorrow!" but alas tomorrow is always tomorrow, never today.

I’m pretty sure the shirts at GMA and the mothership couldn’t care less and have rationalized this stupid campaign as “well it’s free, let them eat cake!” Any flack from customers on Genesis’s Social Media pages? I’m dropped FB and others.

Update: No bleeping email. I got excited for a second when I saw something from Genesis but it was an email telling me I'm overdue for service.

This would be comical if it wasn't so infuriating....

I called GCS on my commute home yesterday and got a similar message. According to my CSR the emails will continue go out until July 31st to Genesis owners that have a case that has been "escalated" prior to June 30th. When I asked what the complication has been the CSR replied that some emails did not transfer properly i.e. a character in the address was changed. This doesn't seem plausible to me since the transfer would be via a database query.
My gut tells me that Genesis is trying to wear us out until we forget or give up.

Not a surprise, 6/30 deadline passed and I didn't receive the e-mail. I sent an e-mail reply to ask.

They replied with this. 12 weeks!

Genesis have managed to so badly botch a promotion for a free giveaway, to the extent that this $150 or so gift (for a $65,000ish car) is turning into a massive anti Genesis wave of negativity. It serves to highlight not only their ineptitude in this particular instance of the NACS adapters, but it also dredges up, for many owners, the pathetic response to customer service issues by badly trained and ill-equipped Genesis dealers and the many, many recalls that have affected GV60s from the outset.
We love the car and even bought a new one after Genesis was forced by a Lemon Lawyer to repurchase our first GV60, but the company sucks. They are finding it impossible to transition from a budget Korean culture with Hyundai to a luxury brand akin to Lexus. It is really quite sad.

The Ioniq Guy posted a photo comparison of the HMC vs A2Z adapters, along with the comment that the HMC version “is comically large”. :ROFLMAO:

Hope the link works…

Interesting. I'd be more inclined to see how it compares to the Ford adapter since it was certified by Ford and went through OEM testing. Nothing against A2Z but the OEM is probably building it to a higher standard so I'm not completely surprised it is more robust. Now, whether that is due to robustness of design or poor design is another story...

Update: I received a response from Genesis customer service:

"Thank you for contacting Genesis Customer Care. We sincerely apologize for the delay in receiving your NACS adapter redemption email, and we understand how important this is to you.

We are escalating your request, and eligible, contactable guests will receive their complimentary NACS adapter within 12 weeks at the mailing address linked to their MyGenesis account."

I am beginning to think they ran out of adapters and all of this hullabaloo is them being caught flat footed and not knowing how else to respond.

This email doesn't address several key questions:
  • How are they defining contactable? By definition, since they have contacted me repeatedly to kick the can down the road, am I not contactable?
  • 12 weeks from what date?
  • Are we officially giving up on the redemption email now and they will just send the damn adapter?
Not a good look, Genesis.

I'm not even mad anymore. I've crossed into mild amusement at the absurdity. "Case" has been open since June 2. Each CS rep does their best but doubt they can do much but send more messages into the ether. They guy I had today was not a native English speaker - Nigerian or Ethiopian would be my guess - and was unfailingly gentle and polite, did his best, apologized for putting me on hold twice, verified the campaign (cough) was extended to end of July, and would send another message urging action on my case #. I will wait another 10 days or so and call back. The Kabuki dance continues.

It's been floated before that the bottleneck might be manufacturing. I feel VERY strongly that it is not.
1. I have worked in manufacturing for the majority of my professional life and with today's automation equipment these are simple products that can be pumped out by the hundreds per hour. How many Genesis EV's do you think are on the road in the US? Yeah, not the issue.
2. The ORIGINAL notification was started in January 2025 and was to end in March 2025 with deliveries going out in April. This indicates that vendor selection was complete while product testing and certification was in the late stages if not complete already. Last, production should have ramped up in March with the assumption that X% of EV owners would respond and receive an adapter which would change as response emails were received.
3. If production is the issue, why are we waiting for the first email? Would it not be smarter to send ALL the emails at once (not batches) to get a total count and then reply with delivery dates based on production capacity? Yes, that is how it should have been done.

Just called and was told all emails will be sent by the end of July. Taking this with a big grain of salt of course.

Just an fyi. I had received my 2nd email on June 16th stating that my order was being processed and I would receive another email with a tracking number once the adapter has been shipped. So far still waiting. However, with the Tesla Supercharging prices per KW of off peak at .46 cents and peak of .68 cents at the stations in my area of California, I'm in not rush to use the Superchargers.
