Why does the engine rev in park when I press the FLOORBOARD?

I discovered in my 2022 gv70 that while idling in PARK if I press my foot to the FLOORBOARD just in front of the GAS PEDAL the engine will rev very high. I do have a weather tech mat down but it’s not interfering with the pedal. I thought I was imaging it the first time but it’s happened twice since. Any explanation or any questions that I could answer that might help solve this mystery?

I'm confused. Your profile says you own a G70 and you're in the G70 forum, but you say GV70 in your post. Is this for G70 or a GV70?
My advice is to remove the Weathertech mat and try it again a few times.

I totally agree with this recommendation.

What you describe is very dangerous. I would not drive the car again until it is rectified.
