  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2022 Genesis GV80 in red. While opening my back seat, passenger side door the silver door handle trim popped off. I tried to put it back but it didn’t seem to be able to re attach. I was told it is not covered under warranty, although it’s a known issue from what I could find online about it. I’m so confused, this has never happened to me before. So disappointed, is it normal to have to pay $150.00 for something I did not cause, but to me seems it’s a manufacture defect ?

Reading your first sentence, my first thought was "warranty". I'd contact Genesis about it.

Welcome. Just noting that your topic has been moved out of the Community Lounge and into the Genesis GV80 forum...

Same exact thing happened to me with my rear driver door handle. The dealer already had the part (Dealer had to replace the entire handle and color match the car color) and provided me with a loaner. I suspect they (Genesis) already knew about the problem.

My drivers door one got knocked off while valet parked. I got my car back from the valet and of course they held the door open for me so I could not see or feel it was gone. I noticed it when I grabbed it to close it when I got home.
Although that strip is replaceable and held on by screws, you can not buy the just strip. they only sell the door handle.
I got one (Genuine Genesis Part) on eBay in black which was a perfect match for my car. Five minute install as there is only one screw and no panels need t be removed.. I think it was around 130 bucks, but the rear door should be cheaper as there is no electronics. (at least my model year did not have any.)
I have read that some people have had them replaced under warranty so you might want to dig a little deeper
Good luck
