The used car market for G90’s is insane and I think there is arbitrage to be had.

I had a 2020 Palisade with 48K miles that I traded in on a 2023 G90 3.5 ESC. The G90 had 12K miles and was in super mint condition. I got it for $58K.

The way I looked at it was I jump up 3 years, back into bumper to bumper warranty, and I got the best sedan on the planet!

This fricken thing is a work of art!

If more people test drove these things, they couldn’t keep them on the lots. If you want luxury, who would buy anything but one of these. And it is a sports car too! I would pick this over any 2 seater. When you combine performance, safety, features, how can one pick anything else. This thing goes over 100mph in a flash and it feels the same as 35mph. They say max speed is 132? I bet it goes over that.

I drive by everyone and laugh, because they don’t know what I know. The word will eventually get out and these 2 year old vehicles will catch on fire. If one knows anything about cars and your in the market for a luxury sedan, this is the best deal out there!

I thought I was going to miss the V8 from my 2017 model memories, but I turn up the engine speaker to max and it is just as enjoyable with a sub 5 second zero 60! The damned sound system is so good, when do you even hear the engine. Just some thoughts from a very happy owner, who knows he has the pinnacle of South Korean creativity for a product their country should be beaming about!

These vehicles have always fallen fast in value..nothing new there. Been that was since the Equus days..great deals 3-4 old
New, it seems that a buyer looking to spend $100K plus wants a German sedan with a V8

If you dont care for the Germans and long term resale value is really a driver for you , the Lexus LS500 is a very safe bet

I dont know much about Palisades...but was that one of the vehicles ( along with the Telluride) that was selling ABOVE MSRP at one time a few years ago?

I dont think a G90 ever sold for even MSRP..and at this point I am sure there are some heavy discounts( $10-15K off)

My local dealer has a brand new 2024 G90 that has never sold

I bet you would be hard pressed to find an unsold 2024 Palisade on a dealer lot

You are correct on the Palisade. I am sure I could have gotten more selling out right of course, but I think the prices came back to earth somewhat from 2021-2022 levels.

I knew the price of the G90 was “inflated”, but at this point, it is now showing the absurdity of the pricing for the German models.

If you took apart the G90 and went part by part and technology by technology, we all know they are worth what we are paying for them. There is ignorance in the market and that is why the arbitrage is coming.

As I said this thing is a work of art!

I know many are on the 2025 models and on to the 2026, but go back and watch some of the older G90 reviews. There is the 2023 G90 versus the 2022 Benz S580 review in particular….and you can just see the G90 is better…Tom Brady is collecting rings and all the rest are sitting on their laurels and prior accolades. I am not a Patriot fan either. The G90 is just a dream to drive and the accolades will keep coming.

God damn was I happy driving this home on Saturday!

And this was going so well until my Father’s name got slandered!

I dont think anyone looking at a new S580 is looking at the Genesis, even with the significant cost different between the two

No V8, none of the myriad of customization options...wheels, leather, different wood trim, seats and then there are the ultra high performance variants( 791 HP) etc etc etc
Then a total different driving experience and dealership net work as well

Then there is the prestige factor

I think you could get a Lexus LS buyer to look at the Genesis G90...but those are not selling either
In fact the rumor mill says there will be no new full sized Lexus sedan after the current one

I know we know they should be.

When you get an apples to apples product comparison, it is left up to subjective tastes.

I’d put Hyundai Parent Company’s reliability up against MB any day. They make superbly reliable cars whether it is Hyundai or Genesis, and they have the warranty chops to back it up.

The review I watched compared performance of the 4.0L V8 twin turbo mild hybrid to the 3.5L twin E SC mild hybrid and it seemed to me that the Genesis engine is better when all things are equal. The guy’s zero to 60 times were slower than MB, but the extra weight was not factored in, and if they had the executive seats in the S580, I suspect the weight would go up to match G90 and you have a 4.0L versus a 3.5L going neck and neck on zero to 60 times. Maybe there are losses over 120 MPH, but that obviously wasn’t in the review.

Most of the other differences are just subjective. And from the reviews I have read Genesis tech is more like Apple’s in intuitiveness and MBs is more like Microsoft.

I can’t stand the myriad options, and feel Genesis slayed that beast with their approach.

Just my humble opinions…and I know the prestige piece is real, but it is also hypocritical on many fronts. You want the badge, but then you want the all these skus of options to set your car apart of the others? That is pretty much talking out of both sides of the pie hole.

Grab a G90 that is apples to apples. If you want the 800 horse power S class one then get the Benz.

I don’t care about the badge…I just want the smartest deal with the most tech and Creature comforts/gadgets and performance one can get and I believe that comes in the G90.

I understand that is your opinion

They are very different automobiles, in my opinion
From driving experience to dealership experience

I will say again...I dont think that typical buyer is looking at a Genesis G90( or a Lexus LS) for that matter

I bet if we had the median income of the buyers we would see some big differences.

Not sure why you think all the options and customization is a bad thing?..But perhaps I misunderstood that part of your statement.

Its not a practical buy..but I dont think any luxury vehicle is

In a day where many corporate executives can buy a Mercedes S class easily with less than a single year end bonus, all an automobile company has to do is make them want one in the first place.

The year end bonus versus the median income of the average Genesis owner is probably the actual comparison. :)

The options are great if you are into them. But I just mean that you are getting all these options to separate oneself from the herd, but why join one of the biggest herds to begin with? It is a bit of talking out of both sides of your mouth is all I mean and it does add, I would argue, unnecessary cost and complexity to a company, which is probably a legit reason for the cost differences.

I bought a BMW and loved the dealership, but only from the service department experience. However, my first G90 was just as good if not better in Meridian CT and White Plains NY, both standalone dedicated Genesis dealerships. Have never owned a Benz.

The driving experience is subjective on many levels and it is a sliding scale.

Do you want to take turns super aggressively then you better be ready for feeling bumps, stiff ride, car weight and substantial suspension parts. My BMW was fast, stiff, and not that comfortable. But that thing flew down the highway and had insane acceleration.

Or do you want a more comfortable ride and not feel the bumps and hear the noise, but not be able to take turns as aggressively? This is the G90 and I like the decisions made for the driving experience, and this coming from a lead foot. Just trade-off decisions that have to be made to fit all the requirements into a form factor and weight limit; not lack of quality or inferior choices.

I have owned both Mercedes and BMW in the past...prefer Mercedes Benz ..IMO, a better tradeoff on ride versus the better handling of a BMW

But I heard others that prefer handling

I used to work at a mid sized ($ 800 million annually) company where I knew the executives pretty well
Of the 8 of them 5 of them drove new S classes
Trust me..they could buy one with their year end bonuses

In my opinion, that is the crowd that seems to be their main buyer..Corporate executives
Mercedes ( or any other manufacturer after that market share) just has to make sure that that crowd still desires their product
I think dealership experience is VERY important to this crowd
I dont think its about practicality
There are far more practical sedans...the Lexus LS500 comes to mind...but its sits gathering dust on dealer lots and rumor has it Toyota will not be replacing it

As for the customization/options..I get it
Its like buying in a certain desirable neighborhood but still wanting your home to stick out a bit with something unique

And yes..I have had some major Mercedes and BMW repair bills. That goodness for warranty coverage. But, truth be told I had a $5000 repair bill ( warranty covered) on the G90 last year as well
