  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi, just bought a 2024 GV70 and doing research on snow tires. We need them here in Quebec! The 20 inch equivalent winter tires are too expensive, have any of you gone to an 18'' or 19''inch wheel/tire combo? Thanks.

I'm in Laval, went for 18" to have more sidewall on the tires and avoid destroying the wheels on our pothole-infested roads...!

Took them from the dealership, I took the road hazard warranty with them (Covers windshield replacement), when buying the winter wheels with them as the car was brand new, they were covered as well (Tires too). Let's just say I have a bad history with tire punctures (Including one with a flare...🙄)!

You’ll be hard pressed to find a 18” wheel that fits. The front calipers are quite large. I went with these with 235/55 X-ice

Thanks, I found 19''inch Michelin Ice at Pneus a Rabais for $292.36 each delivered, plus taxes.

IceX or Blizzak are both cheaper and a bit better pure winter tire, but I live in the Sierras, so it is a constant mix of big snows and dry pavement between Tahoe and Reno or Sacramento. I bought CrossClimate 2s. Not quite as good as dedicated soft rubber winter tires, esp in frigid climates (I spent a Xmas in Quebec City once at -33c) so maybe not for your situation, but I love being able to put one set on and not think about changing them every 6 months. They are the best leave-them-on tire you can buy with very good ratings in every category including snow and ice. And 50k to 60k mile warranty depending on size. Not cheap but a lot cheaper than 2 sets and a lot less hassle.
