If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Ive had my parts thread over on Genesis Coupe.com get pretty big.

I work for a parts department for a dealer out in Carlsbad, CA.

Feel free to ask me any questions regarding parts and Ill do my best to answer them for you. Im in the process of getting AV status. So until then, I can PM pricing.

Hey NCZ13 - My buddy has a 2009 3.8 PP. Do you have any idea where we might find a diagram of the 2010 Touchscreen Nav? He's looking to integrate it with his 2009, and I'd imagine short of a wiring harness and GPS antenna, not much would be needed. Any hints/ideas?

Do you guys have any sort of online shop manual available to you? I would think thats going to be your best bet.

My parts catalog isnt that detailed. It really just shows me the nav unit itself. No breakdown further.

Capo - go to www.hmaservice.com and register. Then go to the Service Information pulldown and then Shop. That'll take you to the factory service/repair manuals. The manuals are listed by car model, year, and engine size so you can compare various years, etc. The manuals describe the systems in pretty good detail. A new addition is a "print" icon that lets you print the whole manual to your own printer - or PDF print driver if you have one.

I want to add daytime running lights. I know the cars in Canada have it, is there away we can get a parts lists and buy them in the states?

I can only order HMA parts. the HMC (hyundai canada) catalog is different. I cant look up canadian vins, nor have any access to canadian part numbers or TSB info.

It sounds like something youd have to hardwire yourself.

Check your owners manual to see if there is any mention of DRL in the Relay box picture/diagram. Sometimes the only difference is the addition of a relay.

On a late model Porsche 911 a buddy of mine imported from the US a while back, there was an empty space in the relay box and all he had to do was order the relay and plug it in. The wiring was existing.

If you look at the fuse box on US models you'll see an empty spot for DRLs... but look more closely and you'll see wires TO that fuse slot aren't even present. So it's a lot more than just plugging in a part or two.

Most of the exterior lighting (front of car at least) is controlled by the "Front Area Module" (or "FAM" as it's listed in the service manuals). That's basically a small computer module in one of the black plastic boxes in the engine bay. Any DRL logic would probably exist in this box... is it the same box for US and Canadian cars? I don't know...

NCZ13: about that Front Area Module: what are the part numbers for the 2009, 2010, and 2011 versions - and costs? The later model Genesis sedans will flash the turn signals 3 times if you quickly tap the control stalk for lane changes... that feature doesn't exist on the 2009s. I'll bet that function is implemented in the FAM module. If the prices aren't insane, I'll look through the service manuals to verify they have the same wiring pinouts (i.e. are electrically compatible) and, if so, I'll buy a 2010 or 2011 module to stuff into my early 2009.

Mike C - Thanks for the link to the service manual. This a great free resource. All of the TSB's are there also.

Hyundai calls it the FEM (im guessing front engine harness?) Theres alot more than just 3 or 4 numbers, and would need VIN numbers for the models your looking for. The most recent harnesses for the 2011 arent available yet, but would expect cost to be less than 500. As the most expensive FEM is around 473 list price.

Scanning Chapter 13 (Body Electrical System) of the service manual I can't find any references to "FEM" FAM/Front Area Module is referenced quite a bit, and a drawing/sketch appears on page 509 of 1180 (2009 V8 manuals). It shows as a small rectangular box, with a locking lever, and 3 connectors. The next few pages list some of the functions: wiper control (rain sensor), tail/head lamps, front fog lamps, room lamp auto cut-out, rear fog lamp (?), turn signals, external buzzers and alarm horn control, and it monitors a few sensors to put their status onto the car's CAN bus.

The FAM is in the electrical box at the passenger/firewall corner of the engine bay.

I see the question mark (?) after "rear fog lamps". A lot of European imports have the rear fog lamp (left tail light brighter than others) that can be turned on with (usually) the pull of the the headlight switch. I've seen more than my share of MB's/Volvo's/Beemers with the rear fog light on and I'm guessing the driver is totally clueless. Looks like a wiring problem to most folks on the road. (I drive a Mercedes bus here in the states and it has one too!)

There can be some discrepancies between the Korean hyundai catalog and the service manuals. It gets annoying when my catalog says one thing, and the techs service books call it another.

Ill look at the diagram again. The FEM is the main fuse box in the engine bay.

Another example of the korean catalog being off, The wheel sizes for the genesis coupe are 17" for the base, and 18" for the track. Despite the fact its 18" for the base and 19" for the track. They arent always 100% perfect for the US market.

On a 2010 Sedan with stock 17" wheels what is the largest size and width wheels I can get on my car and with what offset?

Some sites say that I cant have anything wider then 8.5" and I see some people with 10" wide tires. I want to get better traction and handling and the (what I believe to be) 17"x7.5" arent cutting it.

Hey parts guy! Nice thread. Quick question, how come Hyundai doesn't sell any chrome plated wheels for the Genesis? I see they are standard on the upcoming Equus. I had to go an aftermarket supplier for the OEM chrome wheels for my car. If you can get them, do you guys have a go to supplier? Thanks!

You could probably tuck a 18x10 in the rear. Youd have to run a pretty low offset though... Id find a wheel calculator. That will help you figure out the setup you want to run.

They just dont. HMA has a chrome wheel program, but it was expensive and was much easier to just get a set chromed locally. We dont have a supplier, we just have a core set we send out to a local shop to get done.

Ah, so you guys do just what I did. Just send over a set and get chrome in return. Do the old exchange thing. I guess the chroming process is expensive. Especially a good one. And the chrome doesn't adhere well to the plastic center caps. I have already had to replace a set due to a harsh car wash. Thanks for the response!

You know anything about a new revised tilt control module this was another post today Dec. 22, 2010 I'm thinking parts departments would get a revised part number to order.

Tilt Steering New Fix

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hyundai announced a new control module which they strongly feel will solve the tilt/memory seat issues many are facing.

The module was released last week and is availble for those with the problem. This is not a recall just for those whose cars exhibit the problem.

My module was ordered today and they expect it by Thursday for installation also on Thursday.

That's it? How are people on here fitting 20's on there cars?

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Oh you could fit 20s in there for sure, but just because its 20" does automatically equate to enhanced performance. an 18" wheel is going to be much lighter and much more performance oriented.
