  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi,
Taking our first road trip with the GV60 this weekend. I've found a charger on the route I'm taking that I'd like to use (about 100 miles away). I haven't used navigation before in the GV60 to start preconditioning. I played with it last night-thought I could map to it in the Location/POI/EV Charger tool in the car but it would only show me the closest chargers. Of course the one I wanted to use wasn't on that list. And when I played with it (chose a charger) I didn't see any precondition notification come up.

Is there any way to plug in a location outside of the closest chargers? Or do I need to wait til I get closer to the charger to map to it and then precondition? And if there's no notification the battery is preconditioning is there any way to check it? Thanks in advance for any thoughts. Adam

Yeah, it is one of the more frustrating things about road trips in the winter. How I do it (not sure if this is the only way) but when I am about an hour away from where I want to charge and pre condition is I close my Google Maps (which I hugely prefer over the built in navigation) and I set a destination using the built in Navigation near where I want to charge (just choose the nearest city / town) and start navigation. Then I search for chargers near the destination and I find the charger I want then set that as the destination. I am then using the onboard (crappy) navigation. Usually about 30 minutes before arriving I see a little heating coil icon show on the battery % icon (oh and you need pre-conditioning to be turned on). When it starts there is an on screen notification, but I often do not see that as it flashes with nothing audible.

Thanks. When you say you search for chargers and use the onboard nav, how do you search? When I did it yesterday I only got about 5 options by distance (and this went only about 5 miles away)-no ability to search by address. As I'll be in suburban Philly (decent # of chargers) I'll have to be pretty close in order for the charger I want to come up on the list. I didn't see it-is there a way to search by keying in an address rather than by proximity?

I am not in my car at thr moment, but I search using the EV - Search for Chargers from the menu (I think). And if you are currently navigating one of the options is "at destination". Remember that you need to be currently navigating to have this option show up.

You have the search for EV chargers while the Nav is currently running a route. In that scenario you can choose options like "Near Me;", "Along Route" or "At Destination". I pick At Destination and then pick the charger that I was planning. The key was setting a route destination that was close to the charger that I was aiming for initially (city / town).

I can remember trying to search for EV chargers by address and could not figure it out. So I would pick a landmark / address near the charger and set that as the initial destination before over-riding it with a a "Charger near my destination".

To be clear, it is a royal pain, but I have found it works. There might be a better way.

At the Genesis booth at the LA Auto Show on Thursday I asked about manual preconditioning, and once they found someone that knew what that was, he demonstrated to me that the 2026 models DO have a manual preconditioning button. And he was surprised that my car hadn't received this feature in an OTA update, he said that he had been informed that this was supposed to be included in an OTA update. So let's cross our fingers that he wasn't misinformed and this is an OTA update that is still coming soon.

On a related note, the person I spoke to wasn't an actual Genesis employee - he worked for a marketing company under contract to Genesis, not Genesis itself. It must be a long term contract, I met the same person at the show last year (and he actually remembered that before I did), and he was quite knowledgeable, but still, not an employee. As far as I can tell there wasn't a single actual Genesis employee in the booth - and this was on press/media day. Apparently there may have been some employees there early in the morning but they all cleared out by 10AM!
