  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Re: Beware - A Deposit Means Nothing

I appreciate you are pissed. But are you saying that they called to say they had a V8 and you put them off because you still wanted to try and get a better deal at another dealer? Did you give them a token deposit or was it refundable?

It was on a v6. By way of further background, I only talked to another dealer after my original price changed mid-stream due to Hyundai's lease program change. But I never withdrew my offer and stuck with the higher price. After an hour of thinking about it, I said OK to that deal yesterday morning. The part that bugged me the most is they told me it was mine, to come pick it up, and then sold it to someone else within an hour, because they could get a better price. I know someone else in the NY area who had the same thing happen.
What is the purpose of putting a $500 deposit down on a car. (They said they are refunding it....I hope to not have a hassle over that with them)

I hope they don't give you a hard time about the refund, as well. What happened seems simple. They had more than one person in line for that car. When you balked on meeting your end of the deal, they moved to the next person in line who snatched it up. In this market, price probably had little to do with it, as they were going to honor your agreement even at a lower price, until you put them on hold. I feel bad for you, but what else were they supposed to do?

I would NEVER buy a car from Paramus Hyundai. Hustle is spelled out all over that place. That building used to house WILD BILL DODGE during the 1970's and 80's and their tactics have not changed since. A Hyway dealer is a Hyway dealer, and if you lay down with dogs......you're gonna get fleas.

Hey everyone!

We know of a few V8's on the west coast, one in Iowa, three in Maryland, and perhaps two in Houston. Has anyone else seen any other V8's yet? Lots of us seem to have deposits on V8s - but at least my dealer is in the dark as to when their order will be delivered.

We do seem to see that dealers with VIN numbers have one in route from the ports, so 6-10 days later, they should get the cars. Mine is the first car that my dealers pre-ordered in June, and he still can't seem to find out anything firm.

Calls to Hyundai only get "late October/early November, despite some cars on the ground already!

Anybody actually gotten their V8 yet, besides those in So Cal?

I saw at least 4 V8's at Douglas Hyundai Santa Ana, CA. One was a black on black--very nice. They all had $5K market adjustment on the windows  I sat in one and the leather was definitely softer than my v6 tech and the illuminated door step was nice. I think most if not all the v8's at Douglas Hyundai had changed their Hyundai 'H' on the back to flying wings and even the wheel covers as well. Their V6's still looked very stock.

Well, after my bad experience with a sleazy NJ dealer who sold a car out from under me, it is nice to know that a good dealer can create a whole different experience. I put a deposit down a few weeks ago at another dealer (Globe in North Plainfield) and I picked up my black/sable v6 Tech last week. The people at this dealership really cared about making it a good experience. The salesperson studied the car so he could demo everything for me (he came in on his day off to do the delivery). They put my rear wing emblem and wheel covers on for no change, and the general manager liked them enough he is ordering a supply for all their stock. My price was very fair ($555/mo with $1700 OTD).
Over the past week my wife has driven to/from Philly and I have driven round trip to Boston. We love this car. I have leased several each of Lexus, BMW, Infiniti, Audi, Volvo. The Genesis is right up there with the best and I am proud to know I got a great value. Now we start the two year saga to see how the reliability is and the service.
This forum has been instrumental in my preparations for buying the car, and I appreciate it. I was also able to tell the dealer to do things like check the tire pressure, and watch for the rear seat heat issue, update the recalls, etc....all of which I learned here.
Way to go Hyundai!

I'm in California so I guess the V8's got here 1st. But my experience with Keyes Hyundai was interesting. I got the Blk/Blk V8 with the Tech package on 9/30 after some intense negotiations. I got it for below MSRP and feel great about the deal, the car generates alot of looks and questions! 370 horses is pretty nice, had to back a Lexus or two down on the freeway. 5 series don't have a prayer. Go and see Danny M. (Internet sales manager) he gets it! This is a perfect storm for buyers with good credit, Hyundai's timing on this car is unfortunate for them but great for the sophisticated buyer!!!

Nice to hear how much you're enjoying your new car. I'll be making my decision as soon as I drive the 09 Acura TL. Would you share some details on your deal....does the $550/mo include sales tx? what is included in the $1700? what was the adjusted or final cap cost?

$555 includes tax. $1700 includes first month's payment, all fees of all sorts, and a $500 coupon. So it would have been $2200 without coupon.
