  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

It's disappointing that the auto dim has to be set each time the car is started. Why would Genesis not set that to be set based on what the driver last set it?

Do you mean you want the brights to come on right away, after you turn the car on in your garage??

On any car, it is not a perfect system and there are times you don't want it on. I can take you down a couple of roads you'd not want to use and and prefer to take control.

While I agree there are probably plenty of times that you don't want it coming on startup, I'm sure there are drivers that would prefer it on. It seems to me that could be an easy software 'switch' selectable in the setup menu. That is the advantage of software over hard wiring. . .
That said, I'm sure there are a bunch of similar things that could be added to setup to customize / personalize the vehicle even more.

While auto high beams are legal, there are laws and restrictions on use. Making the auto feature to default to "on" can move the legal responsibility from the driver to the car maker. Some features are decided by the engineers, others by the lawyers.

100% Things like Smart Cruise on/off, option to have remote climate simply do what you had it doing when you turned off the car, allowing phone calls to continue thru the car after turning it off (that's not currently possible, is it??), etc. I bet this group could get a solid list of very practical things that would make the owner experience the best in class........or at least closer to that "other" EV brand. ;)

Our Mazda, 2025 CX-30, remembers your last setting for the auto high beams. So did the last two Mazda3 Hatchbacks we had. They've been enabled since delivery. I do wish my GV70 did that, too. The Mazdas also have adaptive headlights. Another feature I wish the GV70 had. Mazda has come a long way. We're leasing our 3rd one as we love the styling and my wife likes smaller autos. All of this at $30k cheaper than my GV70.

So does your Mazda:
1) Turn on your high beams immediately when you turn the car on, assuming the high's were on when you turned the vehicle off?
2) Just remember the "Auto-high" or "non-auto high" setting when YOU manually eventually turn on the high beams?

There's a button on the end of the turn signal wand to turn the feature on or off. Once turned on, it stays on unless you manually hit the button to turn it off. There's an indicator light on the dash that lets you know the feature is on. The feature only works if you have the headlights in the "auto" position. The brights don't illuminate when starting the car anywhere because the car has to be in motion and not detecting oncoming traffic or reflective surfaces. It has always worked flawlessly. We have never manually turned on the headlights nor the highbeams.

We bought a CX5 new a year ago. Fantastic car, zero complaints. As you mention much cheaper.
Not as much power as GV70, but probably more reliable.

Does your CX5 have adaptive suspension, Nappa leather, massaging driver’s seat and 375 hp?

Does anyone remember using the button on the floor with left foot? Yes, the same foot for the clutch so you could not shift lights and gears at the same time. OMG, you even had to pull a knob on the dash to turn the headlights on!

Yep, I remember. Fun times...

PMCErnie,
I'm new to Genesis and GV70, and want to do a few things to customize my new ride......so is there a forum/section for things like you list here? I'm just looking for ideas. I'm not even sure what tint came on my 2025 GV70 ev.
thanks!!

"Currently own a ‘26 GV70 3.5 Sports Prestige (Saville Silver/Ultramarine blue) with lighted front door sills, splash guards, winter mats. Also wrapped the lower rear end in medium satin gray to cover the stock glossy piano black.

Mods/Accessories: Trunk wings, wheel cap wings, chrome side trim, illuminated door sills, mud guards, all-weather winter floor mats and trunk cargo mat. Llumar Air Blue 80 ceramic tint. Custom-made left foot rest/dead pedal."

The auto high-beam function will not turn the high beams on if the car is not moving over a certain speed, so no it would not turn them on in the garage.

I did some experimenting tonight. The high beam won't come on until 20 MPH and they turn off at 10 MPH.

I always wondered when I approach a stop they went off and after turning onto a dark road they seemed to take a while to go back on. Now I know and I did a few stops and starts to check the speed.

But you still had to initially turn the high's on after starting the vehicle, correct?

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

Yes
Been like that on the past 5 or 6 cars with auto hi-beam.

This is the GV70 forum.

I added lighted front door sill plates through the dealer. Auto wrap store wrapped my lower tail end.

You'll like this one, EdP...I had a 1967 International Harvester Travelall, 4wd, 4-spd trans...in the Sierras at 4,000-ish elevation...not many roads and none of them straight...turn, turn, turn...shift, shift, shift.
It had the floor switch, too, and switching high/low beams while negotiating the snowy curves was un-fun...so I re-wired and mounted a toggle switch on the shift lever knob...the very definition of 'handy'.
