Do you mean you want the brights to come on right away, after you turn the car on in your garage??It's disappointing that the auto dim has to be set each time the car is started. Why would Genesis not set that to be set based on what the driver last set it?
On any car, it is not a perfect system and there are times you don't want it on. I can take you down a couple of roads you'd not want to use and and prefer to take control. It's disappointing that the auto dim has to be set each time the car is started. While auto high beams are legal, there are laws and restrictions on use. Making the auto feature to default to "on" can move the legal responsibility from the driver to the car maker. Some features are decided by the engineers, others by the lawyers. While I agree there are probably plenty of times that you don't want it coming on startup, I'm sure there are drivers that would prefer it on. It seems to me that could be an easy software 'switch' selectable in the setup menu. That is the advantage of software over hard wiring. . .
That said, I'm sure there are a bunch of similar things that could be added to setup to customize / personalize the vehicle even more.
100% Things like Smart Cruise on/off, option to have remote climate simply do what you had it doing when you turned off the car, allowing phone calls to continue thru the car after turning it off (that's not currently possible, is it??), etc. I bet this group could get a solid list of very practical things that would make the owner experience the best in class........or at least closer to that "other" EV brand. While I agree there are probably plenty of times that you don't want it coming on startup, I'm sure there are drivers that would prefer it on. So does your Mazda:Our Mazda, 2025 CX-30, remembers your last setting for the auto high beams. So did the last two Mazda3 Hatchbacks we had. They've been enabled since delivery. I do wish my GV70 did that, too. The Mazdas also have adaptive headlights. Another feature I wish the GV70 had. Mazda has come a long way. We're leasing our 3rd one as we love the styling and my wife likes smaller autos. All of this at $30k cheaper than my GV70.
There's a button on the end of the turn signal wand to turn the feature on or off. Once turned on, it stays on unless you manually hit the button to turn it off. There's an indicator light on the dash that lets you know the feature is on. The feature only works if you have the headlights in the "auto" position. The brights don't illuminate when starting the car anywhere because the car has to be in motion and not detecting oncoming traffic or reflective surfaces. It has always worked flawlessly. We have never manually turned on the headlights nor the highbeams. So does your Mazda:
1) Turn on your high beams immediately when you turn the car on, assuming the high's were on when you turned the vehicle off?
2) Just remember the "Auto-high" or "non-auto high" setting when YOU manually eventually turn on the high beams?
We bought a CX5 new a year ago. Fantastic car, zero complaints. As you mention much cheaper. Our Mazda, 2025 CX-30, remembers your last setting for the auto high beams. Does your CX5 have adaptive suspension, Nappa leather, massaging driver’s seat and 375 hp?We bought a CX5 new a year ago. Fantastic car, zero complaints. As you mention much cheaper.
Not as much power as GV70, but probably more reliable.
Does anyone remember using the button on the floor with left foot? Yes, the same foot for the clutch so you could not shift lights and gears at the same time. OMG, you even had to pull a knob on the dash to turn the headlights on!There's a button on the end of the turn signal wand to turn the feature on or off. The auto high-beam function will not turn the high beams on if the car is not moving over a certain speed, so no it would not turn them on in the garage.Do you mean you want the brights to come on right away, after you turn the car on in your garage??
I did some experimenting tonight. The high beam won't come on until 20 MPH and they turn off at 10 MPH.The auto high-beam function will not turn the high beams on if the car is not moving over a certain speed, so no it would not turn them on in the garage.
But you still had to initially turn the high's on after starting the vehicle, correct?I did some experimenting tonight. The high beam won't come on until 20 MPH and they turn off at 10 MPH.
I always wondered when I approach a stop they went off and after turning onto a dark road they seemed to take a while to go back on. Now I know and I did a few stops and starts to check the speed.

You'll like this one, EdP...I had a 1967 International Harvester Travelall, 4wd, 4-spd trans...in the Sierras at 4,000-ish elevation...not many roads and none of them straight...turn, turn, turn...shift, shift, shift.Does anyone remember using the button on the floor with left foot?
