  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Feel free to (bump) if there is a better forum.

Anyone else experience this?

Driving in to work yesterday (ironically, on my way to a dealer for 72k (km) service) when power disappears and check engine and ESC lights come on.

Seemed to be in "limp" mode - would slowly accelerate to 50km/h, but not faster.

Called dealer, they said pull over, shut her off for a few minutes and restart.

Voilá, car is fine again - ECS light off, CE light still on.

Dealer installed a software update, ref: engine code P0638.

Engine seems fine - better actually, since I was going to report an uneven cold idle - would drop to 750rpm, then up to 1250, until warm. I am in Canada, so cold means cold - 10F.

I find it funny, and kind of sad, to fix my car by rebooting, and then a software update.

Hahaha:) Ain't it the truth? But then again, what isn't fixed by rebooting or pulling a battery? After all, cars these days are really just a computer on wheels.
