  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

i know this is old news but for me it is new lol. used floss and a heat gun to remove the old one. tip on floss, make sure as you move it back and forth (like flossing your teeth) you move the floss a good 12" or more to keep from breaking it from the resistance and heat from gun and friction. then had to peel the remaining glue off with a fingernail folwed up by denautred alcohol and meguiars #2 polish then #26 wax... perfecto.. now i just need my hood emblem and airbag cover... i got the stickon airbag one in the mail and the wife said N-O.. so $245 later it's on it way lol... will take some more when the rest go on. car is filthy right now, rained yesterday and then of course was windy as hell

What difference man... should've never took it home without the wings!

I didn't take it home with out the wings! LOL Just applied the wings over the H on steering wheel and actually, I am fairly pleased with result. Surely the replacement bag looks better but not $250 better. Needed to use that money for tire purchase yesterday. Waiting now for the center caps that dealer ordered and folded into price of the car. Replacement license plate frames with clear covers/gasket arrive tomorrow. What color is your interior?

Oopps. just saw black on black. That was originally my first choice but wife fell in love with cashmere interior and I have come to really like it also.

Not sure if I would have applied wax to the area where the adhesive touches the car prior to applying the emblem....

I polished the "H" shadow away with a cleaner/polish and then cleaned with lacquer thinner to de-wax the area. I re-applied wax around it a few days after the install.

Not sure if it matters, the 3M emblem adhesive is pretty sticky...

I opted not to do the hood wings, they just did not appeal to me. I did do the stick over on the steering wheel and the center caps on the wheels.

nor would I. that was after installation as the denatured alcohol removes any/all polishes/sealants etc. leaving the painted surface or glass, bare.

as for the steering wheel emblem? if the dealer told you he would install the genesis wing airbag and add the $245 to the bottom line to be finaced i don't think there's a person on this forum with a genesis that wouldn't have gone for that lol. to each his/her own, i fully understand about not wanting to spend the $$$$. it's not growing on trees for any of us these days!! in my situation i was coming from a 1.5yr old Yukon Denali with every option and to stare at that flying H it was driving both my wife and i bananas. Sorry, but the Genesis sedan/coupe and Equus should have a new name. should've just been "Genesis 3.8 or 4.6" as models and the coupe 2.0c and 3.8c, etc. Hope hyundai goes the route of the Lexus, infiniti, Acura as all three of those mother brands got it right these vehicles should not be considered "just a hyundai".

So purty...

Nice job!
One day I'll order mine, I've just done the tint and clear bra and removed the dealer logo and the "Genesis" on the back - one thing at a time I suppose.
I'm still undecided about the front wings and the stick on airbag thing.
I bought used, so no choice about having the dealer do it :)

just buy one already. you know you want it. waiting for the "next year's upgrades" will keep you from EVER owning one.

what did they get you for the clear bra and where exactly did you have them cover? small sections? what areas?

I got the front end covered including half the hood, whole front bumper to the wheel arches, headlights, fogs and trunk lip. Not inexpensive though.
Did some touch up paint and paint-less dent repair (door dings) first since it was 1.5 years old when I bought.

when i get back from my vacation i am having the rear door painted. dealer tried a spot repair for a fingernail size scratch, looked good until i polished the car and now i can see the blend line so unless they can "blend it better" in for paint it will go:mad:.. black black black... why do i do it?

black black black... why do i do it?

Because it's amazing when clean :)
But as we know it's impossible to keep it that way for long :p
I have the black interior (no choice in Canada with a black exterior).
BTW it's almost impossible to match the original paint if you're really fussy...

new enough they'll get it right. that's worst case anyway. to me, it looks like whoever wet sanded the blend with the factory paint screwed it up,

i would think some 1500, 2000, 2500, then the wheel and it will match, at least i hope. i know no matter what they do THIS time i will give it the "eye" as opposed to just be happy i was picking my new car, i don't know how i missed it in the first place???

i would say i'm 60/40 on wet sand as opposed to repaint the door. the "foggy line is the clear, not the black basecoat that i'm seeing.

Very nice! $245 though? Damn my friend was going to sell me his extra one for a lot less than that and I told him to take a hike cos I thought he was trying to make a quick buck. Looks like I owe him an apology.
