  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi, I just got a new Genesis 4.6 sedan. I noticed a couple of odd things. I tried to search the forum, but didn't find anything:
1. Do the homelink buttons on the rear view mirror illumate at all? At night I find myself fumbling for the buttons because I don't which one is which?
2. How many times does one push on the unlock button before the rear door handle will unlock? sometimes I find myself having to push the unlock button on the driver's side handle 3 or 4 times before the rear unlock. is this normal?
3. can someone give a short tutorial on how the autohold works? I used it during stop and go traffic the other day and didn't notice any difference? Maybe I was doing it wrong?

Thanks for your help.
I love this car.

1. Buttons do not illuminate. If this helps, for my garage door I picked the button to the right of the green light on the rear view mirror to help find it in the dark.

2. The buttons on the door handles can work two ways. Two quick taps in succession will unlock all doors, one will only unlock drivers door. You can change it so that 1 button push will unlock all doors, I forgotten how, but it's in the manual, and there's a thread somewhere too.

3. No idea! There's a thread about this, too...but it made me more confused.

  1. Turn autohold on.
  2. Drive.
  3. Stop car.
  4. Remove foot from brake.
  5. Car doesn't move.
  6. Step on gas.
  7. Car moves.
  8. Drive.
  9. Stop.
  10. Repeat

I love this car.
Me too :D

Very simple. if you have autohold on, when you come to a complete stop, the brakes will hold, without having to keep your foot on the brake. The brakes will release as soon as you apply any power with the accelerator. Nothing more than this.

Wow, I didn't realize that's what that did (mine doesn't have it). So has anybody been in another car, forgotten that it didn't have auto hold and bumped into anybody yet? :p

No, because the Genesis automatically unsets autohold after you turn the engine on. Most of the time you are driving with autohold off.

It's like cruise control. When you are in a driving situation where you have to stop a lot, you engage autohold, otherwise it stays off.
