I hope it has a 1.5 liter turbocharged ion drive making at least 2000 horsepower, and gets at least 52/79 miles per particle of antimatter.

HATE. i hate the wanna be LS460 exhaust, & the taillights. i also am not a fan of the side cladding or valance whatever it is. sometimes they try to improve upon something that is pure beauty. in the case of the Genesis (09-11) they got 3 sides right the first time lol

I believe that the old "blue" was a light blue metaillic, and the new one is a dark blue non-metallic. The new red looks different also (also non-metallic now).

I agree with everything you said but I was thinking about changing my tail lights for the 2012 tail lights. I first thought I liked the 2012 tail lights but I have started to have second thoughts as I have seen a few other cars that have a similar looking tail lights and I was not so impressed. I know on Lexus LS460 some owners with light colored cars complained of discoloration of the rear bumper due to the heat from the exhaust that was built into the bumper.

call me old school but i don't like the complete integration of exhaust into the "body" of the vehicle. even worse when you look closely at the exhaust/bumper, you can see the exhaust pipes in there and it REALLY looks like crap. It's just one case of trying to move this car "up" to quick. Hyundai needs to learn that this car is exactly where it needs to be. don't change the look (the grille, headlights are fine, even a taillight enhancement i understand to keep things fresh) but the profile is now changed as front and rear and the car went from "sleek" to bold in a year. too "blocky" looking from rear and sides. it sucks that they're going this route (imo). the only bright side is the next genesis will be here in a couple years hopefully they get back to the '09 core values and offer the best of the best at half price and stop trying to outdo Lexus. focus more on the Mercedes/BMW attributes.

That's interesting to hear about the Lexus owners having this problem. I know on the 2012 Genesis the integrated exhaust tips are FAKE just like the ones on the Lexus ISF. The tips are not connected to the exhaust at all. Just for looks.

Three of the paints have "metallic" in their name, but not the black, white, blue, and cabernet (which are called "pearl"). But I don't know for sure if the red is non-metallic.

Silver may look boring to you, but it will be a lot easier to sell than red (if you are not leasing). On a straight trade-in they will usually dedecut at least a few hundred for red.

I wouldn't count on another "classic" Genesis after the redesign, Tony - if anything, Hyundai is gonna bring it up closer to the looks of the Azera/Sonata - you know... cutting-edge Hyundai.

That's a problem, because cutting-edge looks age quicker. I agree with you that the '09-'11's are going to look good for years, but I think the '12s will also. They are really not that much different.

As for the colors on the website... I wouldn't count on the red being different - those website colors are photoshopped, and look NOTHING like the end result. Just look at Black, Titanium and Silver - they're all a bunch of shades of gray, just a couple of shades different from each other.

Want to know what it looks like? Gotta take a drive down to the dealer lot.

I agree that in the photos of the Genesis "Build your own Hyundai" the various colors are not accurate, but the paint chips on the same page are fairly accurate from what I can tell (but could depend on your monitor). The cabernet is a dark red like the paint chip (not bright red like the mock picture of the car), and probably unchanged from previous year, but I was not aware the the cabernet has ever been a metallic on the Genesis.

The integrated exhaust tips do not have to be connected to the exhaust system to get hot. Just the exhaust passing through them is enough for them to get hot.
I do not know if I would say that they are fake just because they are not connected. If exhaust is not expelled from them than I would say they are fake.

Its funny how old ideas are new again. I remeber when I was boy that my Dad's 1956 Cadillac Sedan Deville had exhaust integrated into the rear bumper. and the gas cap was under the tail light (drivers side I think).

I had a LS460 I never really notice the tail pipe not being connected to the tips but than I guess I never really looked good but I do know that the tips got hot and the heat from them caused a discoloration that was noticeable on some bumpers of light colored cars. Looking at the pictures I guess now I can understand why you would say the tips are fake. I really do not care for the look of being able to see the tail pipe as you look through the tips, again this was something that I did not notice on the LS460.

The big difference between pearl and metallic, is that while metallic paints will look pretty much the same color from all around, pearl paints may seem to change color as you move around. Both have embedded flakes - aluminum for metallic and mica for pearl. Pearl paints are generally more expensive to produce.

Look around. Many "high end" brands use the same "fake tip" design. My neighbor has a brad new Ferrari California. Same "fake tip" design. And that is close to a $300K car. I also recently noticed the same design on a new BMW.

I believe it's a matter of engineers trying to make a designers design functional. By separating the integrated tip from the actual exhaust, you keep the temperature down as much as possible to minimize heating the plastic bumper. You will still get some heating, but the "air gap" will keep it to a minimum.

It's a design trend that will pass in time.
