  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2009 Genesis 3.8 Tech Pkg--84,000km, Service cannot correct no daytime running lights on my Canadian model. Intermittent windshield wiper control not effective---seems rain sensor has a mind of its own. Wiper speed far too slow on intermittent and cannot be varied. anyone else experiencing these issues?

I've had no DRL's on my Canadian 2009 3.8 Premium since I bought 7 months ago, used.
Was planning to set foot in a dealership soon to see what they say.
Hopefully I'll have better luck than you. We'll see.
For the wiper thing - mine can be varied but not quite like the non-rain sensing types. I would say that under certain conditions it does act odd occasionally.

When I first purchased my 2010 3.8 premium (August 2010), the DRLs didn't work. It took the dealer a day to figure it out and they said it was a "bad ground". Don't know if that will help. Everything else electronically worked fine, just the DRL's didnt.

Car going in for full day inspection at Dealership tomorrow by Hyundai Tech Specialist. Will advise outcome.

Are DRLs unique to Canadian models? I don’t think my 2011 has them. I can only find a brief reference to them in the manual and it says (if equipped).

DRLS are required in new cars sold in Canada, but I don't think most US states mandate them.

You're correct that most US states don't mandate them, but I believe one of the 2012 changes is that all US cars will come with DRL.

I would validate this but there are STILL no '12s in Austin.:mad::mad:

Wow, no '12s?, the R-Specs are already rolling off the lots here. Sorry. The V8 inventory is still thin compared to V6, maybe 10 in all metro area. I wish I know what bulb size the high beams are that serve as DRLs on the 2012s.

Not seeing any V8's in Southern California yet either. Distribution issue is frustrating to the dealers too. However, I think that the dealers need to get creative and start making trades/deals with their brethren who have vehicles...

Cheers,
Newman

Got my DRL's fixed after 2 visits. First time they had it in for 3 hours and couldn't solve the problem.
Second time (today) they kept it for most of the day and with a call to tech support in Toronto, solved the issue. It was a "bad ground" as you mentioned.
As a side note, I went to one of the few Equus certified dealers here in Montreal.
Service rep was very courteous and did not try to sell anything else. I wish more dealers were like this. :)
Kudo's to St. Laurent Hyundai, my first positive Hyundai dealership experience.
