If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

After 27 months with my 2009 3.8 I sold it. My lease was up in May and I worked out a deal with a dealer to take it off my hands. I ended up cashing out a few bucks, and am happy with the transaction.

The car was great in so many ways, but I could not longer take the jittery, unsettled ride (early build). I respect Hyundai so much for what they offer in this car for the price. The interior was a great place to be and fit and finish at the price point is tops in the class.

I haven't replaced it yet as my GF and I work at the same office and we have her Elantra and I have an older pickup too. The Toyota Avalon and Buick LaCrosse are the first two cars I'll probably try out, but, I am in no hurry.

This is a great forum and for everyone that loves their Genesis, enjoy the ride!

best of luck with your search. have you driven the new genesis yet? everyone that has driven the old vs the new claims it is hands down a vast improvement.. Buick is nice, i've driven a few of them as well as the avalon. FWD (and fwd/awd) is just not for me, but to each his/her own.

Hey- the Sonata 2.0T LIMITED is a sweet ride.

i drove the 2011 avalon last month. really boring car. average age of avalon buyer is like 70. but it is roomier and softer riding than the genesis.

i haven't driven the lacrosse but the engines are not as strong as the genesis.

I had an 06 Avalon which I loved. I guess you could call it a little on the boring side, but so comfortable and Toyota's 2GR V6 is pretty sweet. I haven't driven the new LaCrosse yet, so when I do I'll report back.

The newest Genesis I have driven is a 2011 V8. Still very firm for my tastes, but lacked the unsettled jittery feel of my 09, they did iron that out.

The Sonata is a pretty sweet ride, but generally I like a larger car. I am also not a huge fan of 4cyls or turbos, but anything is worth a test drive.

Thanks, for the suggestions.

I assume that you have been reading the forum and know that the 2012 Genesis sedan has a noticeably more comfortable ride than the 2011's?

I concur that it's probably worth looking at a 2012 Genesis as well. That being said, the new Buick Regal GS is a sharp looking car, both inside and out!

I think you'll be disappointed by the 2 L turbo 4, especially for someone used to the creamy smooth v8. Even the Audi 2 L turbo feels and sounds coarse compared to the genesis v6 and v8, and the Audi motor consistently wins praises from the automotive press.

Yes I read that, but, there were also a few people here that didn't notice much of a difference. For my next ride, I want something that rides like an Avalon/Lexus/Buick. I would really be surprised if they softened up the Genesis that much.

^ Since you're not in any hurry, you might want to wait until you can check out the new Azera - which will be hitting the autoshows this Fall and the dealer lots early next year.

Won't be as much as an "old man's" car as the Avalon and will have a softer ride than the Genesis but not be as much of a bore to drive as the Avalon (has a nicer interior design-wise than the Genesis as well).

One of the likely engine choices will be the 3.3L GDI putting out around 300HP.

yup, i'm one of those people who did not notice an obvious difference.

besides the avalon/lexus/buick, i also recommend trying out a BMW 528 and MB E350. as long as you don't add many options, the prices are not too bad. I think they ride softer than the genesis. they also have good lease deals for 2011 models.

YEH,

I am thinking about waiting until the Azera shows up. It does look pretty nice, and I bet it will be priced a bit under the Avalon.

Not a fan of either of those. A few people at the office have BMWs and I see the loaner car from the dealer almost as much as their cars.

I am really confused by the complaints about the ride on the Genesis. I traded in a 2006 Avalon to get the 2011 4.6 that I have now. Yes, the Avalon was a little larger inside and the V6 was stong, and it rode very nice. But my Genny rides nice too. My wife and son don't complain, they think that it is smooth. I was bored with the Avalon, the styling, the lack of engine options. The Genesis is so much fun. I love the looks, tech, V8 engine, and the ride seems sporty but smooth to me. We have crappy roads in north east Ohio and no car can eliminate all the bumps, but I don't get tossed around or rattle my teeth in the Genny. Weird. Am I just more forgiving when it comes to ride quality?

i think it depends on what you're used to. since i switch between an Audi Q5 and the Genesis almost daily, i notice that the audi handles the bumps a bit better. but i'm not talking a significant difference, and i also think the genesis is very comfortable. the genesis is more quiet and cruises smoothly.

the thing that i notice the most is the coarseness of the audi 2.0 turbo and its anemic performance compared to the 4.6 genesis. the audi feels like a budget car due to the engine vibration and unrefined noise that it makes, and the audi also costs $6k more than the genesis.

You may be just more forgiving than me. IMHO my 06 Avalon rode much softer and compliant than the Genesis does. I have never owned a sporty car, and know that I am better off giving up some handling for a ride I prefer. FWIW the Genesis could be tossed around much better than the Avalon., but, the Av isn't built for that purpose.

I'm with you here. I think the ride is fantastic in my '11 4.6 as well. Although, in my case, I'm coming from an '06 GTO so a fairly stiff, sporty ride makes the Genesis seem like a Cadillac :-)

How do you cash out on your lease? I've heard this many times before and always wondered how it's done. Is it because it had a low mileage on it or something? How did you cash out on it before the lease was up?

It was simple. The dealer offered me more money than the current buyout with Hyundai Financial. It doesn't always happen, the used car market is strong right now and my buyout was fairly low due to a lease where the money factor was very close to 0%.

My car was also in super shape. As close to perfect as a 2 year old car can be. Not a single door ding or stone chip and only 24K on the clock.

The dealer was happy to get it, and if I pushed may have even got a few extra hundred out of the deal.
